why sip and not drink
Early on, I think it has something to do with letting your stomach/pouch heal. For me, it was very uncomfortable to take anything more than a sip. Now, two years out, I can just about drink like I could, but I can't chug. Volume wise, I can't drink as much at one time, but I can drink it. I don't sip much anymore. Tina

You know how they tell kids they can have all the ice cream they want after they get their tonsils out? And then the kids find out just how miserable they feel and that ice cream is ALL they can get down?
WLS is sorta like that, without the ice cream. The work that creates the pouch makes it miserable to try a real swallow for quite a while after surgery. Gulps are the worst, you will learn on those quickly but I kept trying to take a normal swallow and recoiling in pain for way too long.
So, the problem it will cause is pain. Snorting it out of your nose may be a reaction to that pain, or just KP's means of self entertainment.
