Sept 24, 2007
Ok I finally got my date of Sept 24th. I have waited and waited and now that it is almost here I am afraid that there is something I should have ask or know that I haven't. I have spent hours on here reading postes from every one and all of the responses as well as reading a lot of peoples stories or journey's. I hope I do as well as all of you. After reading the story of the poor woman in Burr Oak having an instrument left in side to be pooped out. But I know that was a freakish thing and am not worried about my Dr doing that just makes you sit back and say Oh My!!! Anyway please just keep me in your thoughts as I start this new and exciting journey. Thanks Georgia
First of all, i don't believe the story of the doc leaving the instrument inside of her.
Next, all the worries you're having are normal. Keep your mind occupied, start getting healthy now for a smooth recovery. Get rid of the junk, soda, and all the bad stuff. Get out and walk as much as possible, even start taking vitamins. Learn to eat post op, that makes it easier.
The wls journey is awesome! A year from now you're going to sit back and think about it and just be amazed.
Good luck on your journey.
Linda
In any operating room, there is a count of tools used at the end of the surgery. I've seen it on my post operative reports as well.
I agree with Linda. Stop worrying.
Now, I do not know the surgeon personally you are having do your wls, however, I am a patient of that same office with Dr. Pilkington MD and I believe you are in outstanding hands. I did my homework and research prior to my procedure and went into this with knowledge and information overload!
Take a deep breath, remember why you are doing this, be positive, and remember to take 1 day at a time, and to not feel so afraid. We all have fears, but we can overcome most of them by asking questions and gaining knowledge. Everyone has had a different experience. And not one of us probably didn't have some sort of fear pre op. But keep in sight your goals and dreams, and those fears will be gone and you will be living your dream soon!
Remember that the journey is a ride of a lifetime, hold on tight, and be prepared to make many changes in your life.
Best wishes and keep asking questions!

I have not had my surgery yet but can understand the nerves you're experiencing. This journey is going to change your life. All for the better. Keep thinking of all the postives that this surgeyr has to offer. Look at all these success stories on here. I also read the posts and even post questions myself to get advice on what to expect. All I can say is that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I KNOW you're going to come through this as one of these success stories on the boards.
