just a few more days

Well- just a few more days to wait.  Surgery is on Tuesday.  I can't seem to get to sleep tonight.  I will be a sleepy girl at work tomorrow.  I have finished my shopping, got the house mostly in order.  My daughter is having a special dinner for me tomorrow night.  Just a couple of things that may not work for me after Tuesday.  I am ok with that.  I know that I will eventually be able to at least taste most foods I have enjoyed in the past, and I have accepted that there will be a few I may never have again- and thats ok.  I know that my husband has some fears about my surgery, I would have them also if our positions were reversed, but sometimes I feel like he is not quite as supportive as I need him to be.  I'm sure it will be fine in the end but right now is hard.  We went thru so much when he had cancer 25 years ago.  Sorry to be so meloncoly- must be the lack of sleep.  Keep your fingers crossed for me on Tuesday.

Hi  Anne, I have been thinking about you. I'm so excited for you on your day, It seemed to come up so fast. What time is your surgery? I will call up to Hurley to check on how you are doing. I called Cindy, the lady I met here and at Pre-op, talked to her after her surgery, she did great. I visited Dr. Minasian  yesterday, he put me on anew med for my diabetescalled Byetta,I do 1 shot twice a day. He told me that the meds I as on increased the appetite, this new med decreases it.Also if I eat too much fatty foods I will get an upset stomach, He is insisting on getting a biopsy of the wound on my stomach even after the surgeon said it was ok. I will be talking to you before you surgery and on the day I will be praying for you. Lynn :)

Glad to hear back from you!  My surgery is scheduled for 11am.  I'm glad that Dr minasian is working with you.  I wouldn't worry about the biopsy- it cant hurt and could be a help in the long run.  Anything to keep the doctor happy!   I emailed Cindy yesterday and she replyed that she is doing well. Said she was tired and having problems with nausea.    We'll have to keep track of each other.  Talk to you soon, and thanks for your prayers.

Hi Anne,

You will do just fine!!!  I feel so much better and it's only day 6 since surgery.  Each day is SOOOO much better.  Ask or rather INSIST that you get ALL types of nausea meds if you have a problem.  They have one they hook up to your IV and it's a 4 hour thing.  ALSO - they got some crazy nurse working there at Hurley.  She crushed a DARVASTAT and mixed it with Crystal Lite.  THAT's what made me so sick.  ASK FOR LORTAB and don't forget that name.  Dr. Minasian will help you with that.  You will need that after your morphine is taken away.  LORTAB will be sent home with you.  It is great.  Takes away all pain.  Thank God for Dr. M.  He came and helped me.  O Crazy nurse was put on the spot.  I'm gonna report her.  She should not be working in Bariatric's. 

But there are a coupla WONDERFUL nurses there too.  Just went over the top to help everyone.  So just hang in there - you got two great doctors working with you.  They will take good care of you. 

You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope a speedy recovery for you.

I'll keep that info in mind.  I'll tell my sister in law- she will be my watch dog while she is there!  Can't wait to get the show on the road!!!  Talk to you soon.
