I'm very fearful of death due to having the gbs and I found a site on this web site about the people that have passed, and it really scared me to death no pun entended...Help me I'm so scard...

Please talk to your doctor, the pcp, not the surgeon, to help you determine your level of risk with or without the surgery.  I'm glad you are considering the seriousness, and I hope your doctor can help you understand any particular complications you have.

When I read the memorials I comforted myself by noting that most were not recent and that most who died were very, very bad surgical risks.  The surgery was very much a last desperate chance for them.

If you decide to go through with surgery, you can help by following the doctor's pre-surgical plan to the letter.  Some folks cheat on the pre-surgery diet and put themselves at a greater risk.  Don't be one of them!

Thank you so much for responding to my blog..My pcp recomed that I have gbs and recomed it very strongley.. He told me that if I keep going the way I have been I will really run into long term problems..I have diabites type 2.I weigh 339lbs...I take pills right now for the condition and he said I will have to do shots if I keep going  the way I have been going.. sorry for the spelling I dont spell very well I'm stable now and need to get the weight off asap...thank you again for your resp..Debbie

You know we all have that fear going into surgery.  My surgeon told me that with any surgery there is a risk.  It seems with WLS we hear so much, but he said there is the same risk with gallbladder surgery or colon surgery.  Weigh your choices......not have surgery and deal with all the diseases related to obesity, or get the surgery and live happily ever after. HUgs.

Thank you for the advise about it being like other surgery..I have really never thought of that before...
