Thank you to all of you for your support. Like I said before, I have been reading everyday and you have all been a wealth of information. I too have trust that God will get me through this. I pray everyday that I am doing the right thing & I have the faith that I am - I feel comfortable with my decision. It just seems the closer my surgery date comes, the more my family makes me question myself. Again, thank you for all the words of wisdom & support. I will keep you posted!

I think everyone goes through what you have experienced.  You discern what you should do and what steps, you do research, read the good and bad, then make a decision.  Then you share with family, friends, foes, what you are going to do and then the opinions begin.  And they do shake your confidence.  I had to make a decision to tell everyone who challenged me on this surgery that I had prayed, got my answer, and was comfortable with the steps I was going to take with my life.  There are risks with any surgery, be it gallbladder, appendix, or gastric bypass.  Stick to your guns.  You're doing this for your health.  So be it! I keep changing my mind about this all the time... Unfortunately I have some time to think about it because my insurance requires a 12-month medically surpervised diet before they will pay... so I am starting that 12 months this month.  I opted to just tell a few close family members and 2 co-workers about my decision because I didn't want everyone telling me what I should or should not do.  I know most people mean well, but this is MY decision... only I know how I feel.  I also believe that God will help me through this.   I wish you the best on your surgery!  I was surprised to find out how many people that I know have had this surgery and they are doing great!    They say they wish they would have done it sooner.  I will keep you in my prayers.

Vallers, Good luck!  I was fortunate that I had my band camp last week and was very busy (I'm a High School Band Teacher).  I told my friends the whole week how grateful I was since I was so busy and worrying about other things I didn't have to think about the surgery.  As I was cutting my grass and getting my house clean and ready for the post-op I have also thought alot about it.  We're doing the right thing, I don't think it's possible to go into this without a lot of doubt and wondering if there wasn't something else we could've done.  Good luck and I luck forward to seeing you on the losers bench --Sax

Sax: Good luck to you! I know what you mean. I have gone to 3 movies, clean my house, anything to keep my mind off of the surgery coming up. I know in my heart we are doing the right thing - I'll just be glad when this week is over. I'm a secretary at an elementary school and have also gone into work early just to get things done in case I don't get back when I'm suppose to! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - I to look forward to seeing ou on the losers bench! - Sue V.
