My ekg came back funny he said. Now I have to have a stress test. Now that stresses me out. Has any one had a stress test with a cardiologist and still had surgery?

Hi. I had to have a stress test for cardiac clearance and my surgery was still scheduled. I later went to Pre-Op testing and it was postponed until I can get some other health problems under control. It shouldn't take me long! Lynn

I had to have a stress and echocardiogram before my surgery as part of the pre-op.  My stress test came out with some blips in it and they did my surgery.  Better to know if something is wrong then go into the surgery blind sided and have problems on the table. It will work out....best of luck to you, keep us posted.

I just went for my Patient Education day last week and the doc told me I will need to have clearance from a cardiologist before my surgery due to my age (50) and family history.  I had a stress test a couple years ago which produced a "false positive" result.  I ended up having a heart cath and they found nothing wrong.  So there may not be anything to worry about, but please follow through with doc's orders.  Just think about how healthy you will be when all this is over!

I had to have a stress test...the Friday before my surgery which was scheduled for Monday morning at 7:30.  I didn't have the one where you run.  I had the one where you lay on your side and they inject you with stuff and take pictures of your heart and it was the WORST thing I ever went through.  I felt like I was dying and I just knew I was going to throw up.  It was no fun at all.  I then went to my pre-op testing and they told me I couldn't have the surgery because my heart rate was too high.....ONLY BECAUSE OF THE STRESS TEST.  It was the most stressful day but I got to have the surgery anyway and it was all worth it.  I weighed in today and I've lost 142 pounds!  I've never felt so good. The stress test I had was the injection also... I will never go through that again.  I will demand the walking test or nothing.  I truly believe that was why my test was abnormal and I told the doctor that afterwards.    Great for you on the 142 pound loss!!!!   I hope that will be me some day...

Hi,      My stress test came back saying I had a blockage in the bottom of my heart and he scheduled a heart cath and found out I was clear and had only 10% blockage. I still had surgery, so don't worry too much tests can be wrong too!                                                              Lots of Luck, Sue
