Has anyone gone through Hurley???

I am seeing Dr. Minasian and he is out of Hurley Hospital in Flint.  I am curious to hear any feed back that is out there about the experience and any and all information.  I was originally planning on going through Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, but since have been reconsidering for the reason that Hurley is much closer to where I live.  I am planning on getting the lap band and think that getting the fills would be much easier if nearer.  I just would like any feed back as to anyones experience through them.  And do they have a good after care/support program there?        Thanks for all replies, Patti

I went through Hurley in August of 05.  Dr. Farhan did my RNY.  Dr. Minasian did my P.A.T.  I have nothing but good things to say about the people at Hurley.  My stay in the hospital was fine.   My after care has been fine.  I've had absolutely no problems, so my after care has been limited to my 6 month appointments.    Hope your experience goes well.  Tina

I just got approved and got my surgery date so I can not speak as to the facility at hurley.  But as for the hurley bariatric center, they have been AMAZING!  I couldnt ask for better more understanding people that just want to help you.  I have called and pestered along the way and they have been nothing but wonderful. Hi Patti,    Both I and my daughter went through Hurley. My daughter had lapband Aug 06 (lost 130 lbs now), I had RNY Feb 07 (lost 90, 27 before surgery)! They have been pretty good with both of us; had a couple bumps but for the most part fine. My daughter comes all the way from Jackson to here to get her fills; the staff at the clinic is very good! Thank you for your reply.  I am curious where your daughter has to go to get her fills?  Does she have to go to the hospital or does she have an option to go to the local facilities outside of the hospital.  Like the doctors office?  Thanks again , Patti

Patti:  I had my surgery done at Hurley with Dr. Obeid.  I met with Dr. Minasian for pre-op stuff.  I was very impressed with the staff at Hurley Batriatric....they were wonderful.  The care at the hospital was good...they put most of the bariatric patients on the burn unit so you can better care.  At least that was my findings.  I was also at Hurley for my hernia operation and some complications I got last year.  I think you would be very happy with both the hospital and the clinic.  Email if you have any more questions.

Here here!!  I 2nd and 3rd all of these posts!    Dr Farhan was my surgeon and Dr Minasian did all the non-surgery and pre-op.   Due to complications from infection I spent a lot more time at Hurley then most folks and I have to tell you.   For a long hospital stay they are the best!    During my first stay...the staff was supportive and the Drs were great!   My 2nd surgery was approx 2 weeks after the first and I was there for a month.   I did not have Hospital staff taking care of me.  They treated me as they would family.    The Drs and hospital staff were totally commited to my well being and comfort.  They even had the Housekeeper change her cleaning solution because it aggravated my allergies!    I was moved around a lot to open rooms for men...or others but that was not too big of a deal..since all I had to do was lay in the bed.  They also let me bring in my own protein because I couldn't stand theirs....oh  yuckkkkkk..... As for after care...it has been great but I am so far away that I am looking to go to a support group closer to home.  But they are always there willing to answer questions by phone if I have them. I would recommend Hurley to anyone! Good Luck

I met with Farhan today and he was wonderful I also had my preop today and my ekg came back to where I have to have a stress test next week. Minasian seems very good and knowledgeable. I just hope my stress test comes back good.
