New to the boards

I'm new to the boards and I'm hoping to find some friends through this journey I'm embarking on. My friend had this surgery about 3 1/2 years ago (Lauri B) and had tremendous success with it. Now I'm on board (hopefully) to get the same. I'm going through Royal Oak Beaumont for the gastric bypass with Dr. Chengelis. I have had my psych evaluation, exercise review and nutrionist appointment and my medical evaluation is on Wednesday. My PCP has signed a form that my insurance (BCBS) needed so I think I have all my i's dotted and t's crossed. Lauri is a big help with what to expect but I was hoping for others advice and tips on what to expect, eat for protein and so on. I'd love to hear from anyone! I'll try to work on my little web page here but I'm not good with that either! Jen T

Welcome Jennifer, I had my RNY done at Beaumont on 7/6 by Dr, Krause.  The WLS staff really has it all together.  Good luck on your journey. Patti

Welcome to the board Jen.... I am sure you will find lots of great information here.  I know I did before I had my surgery and I still am.... I can always find something on here to help me through my journey.... I am almost 9 months post op now and it is still a roller coaster ride and I come here to find my answers and comfort many times....  This is a great bunch of people here.... Just jump on in.... Hmm... Lauri B.  Does that name ring a bell???  Oh yeah, the girl who all but disappeared from this board a while back.  Yeah, I remember her now.  LOL.  Yes, she is a temendous WLS story and a wonderful person.  If you have as much success as Lauri B has, you will be in great shape.  Hopefully you won't get so wrapped up in your new life that you won't forget us "oldies" on the Michigan board.   Jon
