just curious as to what goal weights people have .  My sister had this surgery and is happy at her weight of 175.  She looks good, and feels good, but when i first started this is was thinking 140.  I'm a little taller than her, and now think that may be to thin.  Just wondering what other people that are my height have decided to make their goal.  my doctor and i never discussed it.  Heck, i havent' seen him since my surgery, he's always out of town and i see his partner.  so, just wondering how 150 would look on my height.-

Good Morning!  Congratulations on your surgery with Dr Wood.   Don't you just love the man!!!  I am 5'8".  My lowest weigh was 135lbs and everyone told me I looked sick and like I had a life threatening disease so I worked really hard to build my weight back up.   I am currently holding in the 150's but I have to eat ALL the time.  I have the reverse effect of the surgery and can drop up to 5lbs in one night so I have to now fight to keep the weight on, but anywho....... You work for the weight that you feel comfortable in.  If you feel good at 170. then so be it..... if you feel more comfortable lower, then go for it, but your body will let you know what weight it is happy at.  I feel really good in the 150's.  I am currently in a 6.  I was down to a 4.  So just go with your bodies inner voice and enjoy your new life.  Talk to Dr Wood, he will tell you where he "thinks" you should be.  Have a great day!!!

Hello, I'm also am a patient of Dr. Woods.  I'm 5'9.  My goal weight was 170.  Dr. Woods goal weight for me was 160.  I am currently 146 and I've been between 145 - 151 for the past year.  You can look at the pictures on my profile.  I didn't try for this weight, it's were my body is most comfortable, I guess.  Let me know what you think.

I checked what a "normal" wieght would be for 5'9 using this BMI Calculator: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ If you hit 165, you'll be within the "normal weight" range on the BMI scale.  Your range is actually about 135 to 165 to remain within that normal category.  But then again, we all know how inefficient the BMI scale is for measuring ideal weight.  So I suggest you shoot for around 165 as a target, but reevaluate that goal once you get closer to the mark.  Who knows... maybe your ideal weight is 175, but you won't know that until you get there. Just remember that it's not all about the number on the scale.  It's about your health and how you feel. Good luck, Pam
