I am having my surgery in 3 days

I am so scared.  I am having my surgery in 3 days and I am so nervous I feel like I am going to explode.  Nothing has been going right.  My mom fell Saturday and broke her hip, my surgeon (the second one I have had) isn't going to do my surgery and I have never met the one that is, and we just started a home business that has taken off and I don't know how it will keep going while I am in the hospital and while I am recovering.    I think I just need some people to tell me that it was the best thing they ever did and they don't regret it.  And that the surgery and recovering time isn't so bad.  Please... Susan, calm down hun.  I am three weeks out today.  I am doing fine and sooooo glad I've done this.  Although I'm just starting my journey, it gets easier every day.  I was lucky and breezed through the surgery.  In Friday, out on Sunday.  Since I've been home, I've only taken pain meds 2 times.  I am sure you'll be able to take care of  your home business easily after you are home as long as it's not lifting things.   I am thinking and praying for you.

Hi Susan, I'm one week out today and although I've had a few issues I'm SO  SO SO glad I did this. Never, ever have I been able to lose 12 lbs in a week, reason enough for me to be happy about the surgery.  I think something happens just prior to going in, right about where you are. I think you start to think about EVERYTHING, I know I did. I decided I was best off when I just didn't dwell on it, I thought about anything but the surgery. I was most nervous the morning of the surgery, when I was in the pre-op room but the staff was fabulous. They said they understood, they see it everyday, they expect it and they gave me something to calm me down...and boy did it. The last thing I remember was kissing my husband and then my doc saying all is well and I would be in a room in about 2 hrs.

Susan, this is a nereve-wracking time but try to think about what's ahead, smaller clothes, bathing suits, looking in a mirror, not always thinking about which of your two shirts you should wear not to mention the health aspect. This time Monday you'll be comfortably resting in a room and on your way to a new you.  ps- I posted something on the July Surgeries forumn about things I wish I had done before surgery. Several others posted great suggestions as well, take a look.  Can't wait to hear from you next wk. You'll be absolutely fine~Amy

Get your mind off it.   get eveything ready for recovery....clean the house,  take a walk, go to the mall and look at everything you're going to be wearing next summer.    This journey is truely amazing, one you can't even imagine.   It is so worth it and you'll be so glad you did it.  Just think how easy running your business will be after you drop the weight.   We all go through these emotions, i even backed out at the last minut, but thank God my surgeon called and talked to me.   Linda

Hi There, I will be having surgery in 5 days.  I am nervous too but I have been thinking about the benefits I will be seeing in less then a week.  Already I have lost 8 lbs just being on the hi protein pre-surgery diet so that has gotten me excited that this will work. As the other ladies have been saying - try not to dwell on th negative things.  Think about the good things that will be happening to you in the future. Keep a positive attitude and you will be just fine! Krysti

Susan, I am scheduled for sugery on Aug 22nd with Dr. Wagner too.  I have never met him either and was originally scheduled with Dr. Farhan.  They are so busy now at Hurley.   I chose to switch doctors because I didn't want to wait til Dr. Farhan was available.   I have heard alot of good things about Dr. Wagner so I was comfortable with him as a choice.  The girl that called you and set up your appointment - Renee - is having surgery in October and Dr. Wagner is doing her's.  So - rest assured you are in good hands.  When a member of their staff picks a doctor - that is GOOD!! Don't be scared - BE EXCITED!!!!  You will be beginning a new journey soon.  I've haven't been to this part of the journey yet but I read several messageboards several times a day and I find comfort in the fact that SO MANY OF THESE PEOPLE ON THE BOARDS SAY THEY WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!! BE EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted too!! Take Care, Cindy  :)
