Hair Loss again
Hi Deborah,
After doing all the research and realizing that the hair loss is due to events that are occurring -inside- our bodies, i.e. rapid weight loss, malabsorption, malnutrition, etc., I decided that using products on the -outside- would cost more than it was worth. The hair WILL grow back, even though it seems like you're gonna go bald. I came to the conclusion that my hair was going to fall out faster than it could be replaced by new growth until my nutritional needs were being met. I just waited it out and sure enough, the new growth is catching up and the hair loss has slowed and nearly stopped. I am 9 months post-op and my hair is fine now. I have a stylist who is keeping an eye on my thin spots, just to make sure the growth vs. loss is normal, and it finally is. I just couldn't afford hair growth products and supplements on top of the cost of the special items my body really needs. I hope the Nioxin works for you, despite it's cost.

If you go online to..
http://www.nioxin.com/
You can do a search to find a salon close to you to pruchase it. I am stil doing research on this but in the mean time I am going to try it. A co worker has used it and said it works. We will see. It costs about 39.99 for the kit I got. Not sure how long it will last. The shop where I got it said it should last a while....and not to shampoo everyday..but then on the website I asked and they said everyday is good to get the quickest benefits. So like I said. I am gonna give it a shot. Hopefully it will at least stop the hair from falling out....and perhaps replace some....

I started using Nioxin before surgery. Used it 2-4 times per week (not every shower). It seemed to help. My moms hair is going thin (not surgery related). She was told to use Rogain for Woman. Then her hairstylist said NO! Once the Rogain is stopped, the hair starts to fall out again. They told her to use Nioxin also. It has helped her hair to thicken too.
I have stopped using Nioxin as my hair stopped falling out and, for the most part, has grown back. As far as starting this late in the game, it might help you, but then again, it might not. It wouldn't hurt to try though. If I were you, I would use it every shower to see the effects. Hope that helps!
