Iam so disapointed !!!
okay am doing my mile walk almost everyday !! well yesterday I bought a treadmil at a yard sale brought it home ..pluged it in and could only go 5 mins !!! and I was so out of breath I had to quit !!! and I was on slow to dont no but thay must be more of a work out ??
I do my mile in about 25 mins and dont breath that hard what do you guys think ? sherry
I walk an hour 4 days a week when my gym is open (its at a university so it closes when kids arent on campus) and I usually listen to music or watch one of the televisions. I really enjoy it because I can put in my weight and get a calorie count. I hide the calorie count till the end and it just makes you feel so proud. Its really hard to do but an hour i usually walk 2.4 miles. Keep it up exersize is important no matter how much you get slow down and keep going on the treadmill :D

Hey Sherry,
I think that 5 mins is great for your first time on it. Thats how I started. I did 5 mins every hour I was awake. Then, by the end of the day, I had walked for a total of an hour! Just work up slowly. For the next couple of days just get your body used to using the treadmill. Then next week, make a goal to hit. Mine was walking 10 mins straight 3 times per day. You can do it. You just need to pace yourself. I walk for 30 mins a day now. And I still have more goals to set .
See ya friend

Sherry,
Since it's a used treadmill it probably didn't come with a user's manual. Sometimes you can go on the manufacturer's website and find the instructions. It may be stuck on "incline" that will make it way harder for you to walk as fast as you normally do. Check the settings, and if that isn't the problem then do as others have said and set a short goal. Once you meet it, you can increase little by little. You don't need to run a marathon....just get your body moving a little at a time.
My daughter gave me her treadmill before surgery...I started then. I started with 5 minutes...then every couple days I added a minute....but at a slow speed...like 1.5 miles per hour. I am now up to 3.5 miles an hour for 20 minutes at the gym. And I do the incline on 4 lines. Gets my heartrate up to about 125.
Just take it slow....
