I take it and my doctor says its safe. I take 1/2 of the lowest dose and it keep me calm and relaxed. Best of luck, Robin

Hi Kim, I have heard of others still taking a mild sedative such as yours. But I would ask doc to be safe. Hey I live in Davison too. My RNY is Feb. 5th. Have you had your surgery yet? Good luck with all. Sincerely, Judy R.

Hi Judy, Thanks for the response. Yes, I had my Lap RNY June 22, 2006. I'm feeling wonderful and down 95 lbs. I still want to lose about 30 - 40 more lbs, but at 7 months out I need to step up my exercise to do so! I had my surgery at Henry Ford with Dr. Carlin. He was amazing and did a excellent job. Very few complications..not sure I would even use the term "complication" at all.. I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery. It is truly a blessing! Kim

it's okay as far as WLS is concerned, assuming you are under a doctor's care and have a prescription. it's very addictive drug with a very long half life. I'm not positive but i think it has surpassed Valium as the most abused drug in the country (it's closely related to Valium) and there's a very large black market demand for Xanax.

Thanks.. Now I know I can bring in a little extra money as a "street pharmacist!".. (just kidding) I have been under a doctors care for anxiety for years. I found a prescription I had pre-rny and was very thankful as my anxiety has been through the roof lately. I used to take valium, but it doesn't do anything for me... xanax seems to do the trick when I need it. I don't have an addictive personality..so I'm not concerned. One prescription can last me for a year. I honestly don't even like to take tylenol... just my vitamins and calcium..but unfortunately my anxiety is an ongoing problem that doesn't just go away on it's own. I don't seem to have the depression that I had, but my anxiety is a different story. Blessings! Kim

Hi Dawn, To say that I like Dr. Carlin is an understatement. I LOVE him!!!! You will too! There is nothing not to love! He is excellent at what he does, very personable, caring, patient and sweet. I actually miss him! LOL I never doubted his abilities for a minute. Dr. Genaw is wonderful too.. and Henry Ford is great. I"m feeling very good... I'm down 95 lbs and still have about 30 - 40 more to go...but need to excercise. I can eat pretty much anything I want in moderation, and if something doesn't agree with me, my pouch lets me know. I don't really dump..but feel a bit yucky for sure. I'm very thankful for Dr. Carlin and this procedure. It is a true blessing. Take good care and let me know how your appt. goes! Blessings, Kim
