I bought a couple of bariatric cook books but I never had cooked like that gourmet style and using different spices and herbs I never heard of and food I know I don't like, I am a simple cook and I need simple stuff, nut said to start with fish and chicken, ok but give me directions and blender info, I am craving taste for food and yelling at my girlfreind who has been helping me with house work and my dogs, sf pudding makes me run to pot, I tried a couple of flavors of baby food and it was gross, my goodness did I eat that stuff when I was a baby, any sugestions will help plz !!!

Have you tried tuna fish or chicken salad? Both of those items can go into the blender until smooth and be eaten with a fork or spoon. At this point I personally was not interested in food so much because it didn't taste to me how I remembered it! On the pureed stage you can eat almost anything that you can put into the blender and blend until smooth.....Wendys Chili was heavenly to me so maybe make some chili, or mashed cauliflower or green beans. I hate to say it but until you get further out your food choices kind of suck! I ate the same few items it seemed for the first month and a half and then wasn't so scared to try "new" things. Just go slow and listen to your body. Good luck, Jennifer

Mashed potatoes were my best friend at that stage. Pierogi's were also good. I would just open them up and eat the inside. I ate alot of cottage cheese. I also made meatballs with ground turkey (make them just like you would regular meatballs) and I baked them in the oven. I would eat 1 of them and be full. Salmon patties were also very tasty at this stage. You use the Salmon in the pouch, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs and 1/4 cup of light hellmans mayo. Mix it together. Spray cooking spray in pan. Make patties and coo****il golden brown on both sides. These are tasty! Best Wishes! Stacey B

Do you have an immersion blender or are you just using a regular blender? It's not that big of a deal if you don't have an immersion blender, but I think the texture of the pureed food is less gummy and watery with that type of blender. That and you don't have to transfer your food from pot to blender. Less clean up, lol. How about chicken and rice or turkey and rice. You can use canned chicken or turkey because I think it would even be easier to puree. Cook the rice in chicken stock (low sodium) for extra flavor and that's it. Chicken, rice, stock, and then blend. If you use fresh chicken breast or turkey breast, also cook that in chicken stock for flavor. That way you don't have to use all those spiced that may upset your stomach. You could also do the puree method for tuna and mashed potatoes.

Stacy, I did the Perogies too. They sure saved the day when I wanted something "real". Try the chili and try cream soups. They will have the "real" taste and will still be good for you.

Hello Rebecca, It's really hard when your in this stage. But try different things........... Wendys chili , was a life saver for me.Just blend it up before eating .Oh at the time it was so good. Cottage cheese, pinto & cheese from taco bell, sugar free apple sauce was another good thing for me. As everyone will tell you try different things. Cream soups, tuna fish, chicken salad. I know it's hard and fustrating but you will get through this stage. Good luck to you. DeAnn

Hey Rebecca! I am in pureed phase now and I am eating gerber graduates. The food is Super soft and Ichew it until it's ma**** goes down real easy and I haven't had problems with it. I eat the Lil Entrees and the garden mashers (which is just mashed up veggies) Po tatoes with Broccoli and Cheese is my favorite flavor. Also I drink smoothies, frozen fruit with no sugar added fruit juice. Hummus has a great flavor and I love refried beans with a little salsa and cheese. I also had some Morning star Chick'n tenders, the buffalo flavored are really soft I mashed it up with some ranch dressing and I was in heaven. I hope that helps -T

I berled me up some cauliflower and dried it real good then mashed it and mashed till there weren't no more mashin to be done. I throwed in some chunks a cheese and let'm melt on down. HMMMMM taste just like chicken!! Not!!! It's the cauliflower mash from one of those yuppie restaurants. I also to some re-fried beans, heated them up and put'm in with a little low fat sour cream and some low sodium natural salsa ( mild) and made me a Mexicali dish without any flour tortillas. Even if it didn't taste good, which it did, I still got some great gas from it. kp

I didn't use my $187 blender one time during the pureed phase! What I did like is Chef BoyRDee low fat ravioli. I mashed it with a fork really well and it was good when you're sick of everything else. It's not great to eat every day, but it will get you out of a rut if you're in one. Just chew everything really well, mash what you can, and you'll get through this phase. Do an online search for "pureed recipes" and you should find a lot more with directions on how to do it. Good Luck! Brenda
