I just started my presurgery diet. I think my body is going to go crazy. I am going to bed very hungry. It has affected my mood too. I am still trying to remain positive and tell myself why I am doing all this. So any hints for hanging in there? I am only on 3 shakes, 1 soup, and 1 fiber drink a day. It will be worth it to be healthier. Sincerely, Judy R.

I never had to do pre-op liquid diet but I have heard it prepares you for the first few weeks post op. Think about how bad you want this, how much you want the change, and that this is for the healthier you. As you said, it will be worth it to be healthier. Remember that you are doing this for YOU. I can only say to take it one day at a time, and don't dwell on anything negative. Stay positive and keep a journal of your days pre op and start writing down how you feel. Before you know it, you'll be on the losers bench, and looking back at the pre op liquid diet laughing at how hard you thought it was, and now, you don't even care about food llike that anymore!!! CHIN UP! each day gets easier than the last. Stacey W

Judy, I did the same diet.... all I can say is one day at a time... it is hard, but well worth it when you get there.... Drink your water to help get through it and try and keep yourself busy. If you have a lot of things to do, it helps keep your mind off of wanting to munch... you will make it... If I did anyone can.... Good Luck!!!! Shawn M.

Judy, I had to endure a three week liquid protien diet. 5 protien Shakes/Pudding, water, coffee, diet soda or tea...that was it! No broth, no soup, nothing! But let me tell you... I learned so much about why I ate, and the patterns that made me put food in my mouth. By day three the hunger pangs subsided. By day ten I was crying everyday, because I just wanted to taste something. On day 14 I cheated and had broth...it never tasted soooooo good! Then I felt really horrible and wondered if the doc would know I cheated and cancel my surgery! But he didn't! After that breakdown, it all seemed very easy. I look back and can't believe I lived through that three weeks! It was the worst part of the surgery, but the most insightful! I lost 25 pounds in three weeks! Good luck...you can do this! What an incredible journey! I am 9 mos post op and have lost 105 pounds!

I understand what you are going thru, although I only had to do a week. Thanksgiving week, of all times! That was tough. But WORTH IT! I think it actually got easier as the days went on. If you drink the things you are supposed when you feel hungry, you will feel satisfied, I promise you. It's the mental thing of not eating that gets you moody, teary-eyed even, but let the feelings flow....you can do this! It's part of the plan! Just pop on here whenever you need us and we'll boost you up!! Best of luck! Theresa
