Hi guys....i know it has been a lonnnnnng time since I have posted. Here is the the short version....I have lost 47 lbs in the last 10.4 weeks. I thought that was pretty good but I went to see my surgeon today and he said that was baaaaad. I should have lost much more than that by now. I am getting all my protein in every day, walking for an hour 6 days a week, and getting most of my water in. Food...well I do my best to get that in too but that is the most difficult. I get my protein via drink. Needless to say I left the dr. feeling like a total loser.....and not in a good way. What could I be doing wrong? I am sooooo sad. I don't want to fail. I have already worked so hard and I feel like he poo poo'ed the whole thing by saying that I am not doing enough. I could use some help from some vetrans. I had surgery Nov 7th. I didn't start taking my thyroid meds again until 4 weeks post op so I could swallow the pill..crushing made me hurl. SO it could be just my thryroid getting back in line. I don't know.....HELP.

Hey there, I had surgery the same day as you and have lost 52lbs and by my surgeon's standards, that is great. So I think you are doing wonderful and your surgeon was out of line to say otherwise. Keep it up, you're doing great!

Lori, We all lose at a different pace. I think that for your surgeon to say what you had lost is "BAD" isn't supportive. Rather try to find out why you are not losing more? What's up with that???? Well, here's a clue. YOU ARE DOING GREAT, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, AND TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME GIRL. I would NOT let my WLS be a barrier for my success!!!!!! You are doing just fine, keep in the protein, water, walking and keep at it -- baby steps girl. BABY STEPS. It isn't an easy ride and we have ups and downs.....Just keep eating small meals, and doing your protein, and water, water, sip sip and walk walk. Worry about one day at a time. This is a great tool you have, and you are doing just fine. So come out of the failing mode and keep on WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG HUGS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stacey W

Lori, I went back over my calendar......when I was exactly 10 weeks out I had lost 42 lbs. My doc and nut were thrilled with my progress. I am now 10 months out of surgery and have lost 110 lbs. and I feel great. I think your doc should have been more specific with you if he was unhappy with the progress. As long as you're exercising and consuming what is right, don't worry about it. Keep up the good work! Brenda

It's late and I am tired so forgive me my economy of words..... 1. You lose a percentage of your excess body weight. so forget about actual pounds. how much have you lost percentage of what you wanted to lose. 2. How long did it take you to gain that 47 lbs? 3. When was the last time you lost that much weight in that little time? 4. I know people who have tried for years to lose 47 lbs and it never happened. 5. Make sure you are jump starting your system in the am with a shake and a walk followed by water. 6. Keep the food spread out throughout the day in small amounts. 7. Tell your doctor to have a nice hot cup of shut the ^@*% up. 8. You are doing it all right. Keep it up. kp
