6 months post op and frustrated
OK so I am just shy of 6 months post op and I haven't lost ANYTHING all month. Not a pound!!!! I am not eating more then I should. Probably not enough. So, you would think this weight would go somewhere. Any suggestions? I have 20 pounds to go until goal and I just can't seem to get a pound to go anywhere. I am so frustrated I just want to bake a pan of brownies and eat one. LOL I know I won't but I want to! Anyone else ever feel like this? It is like well, the weight isn't going anywhere so I might as well eat what I am not suppose to. Why be good if it doesn't do any good to stay away from the goodies! I know I am just frustrated and venting so thanks for listening.
Hugs,
Di
When I hit my 6 month post op, I was also at a stall. It's a natural thing just like the other stalls we all experienced to that point. You body is probably catching up with the weight loss. The weight should start coming off again soon. Get your mind out of the oven & brownies and step up the exercise a bit to see if that can't get it moving more quickly. You have come too far to saboutage yourself. I know it's frustrating but it's normal.
Hey Di....
In January 2006 I hit the 160's and couldnt budge it off of me for MONTHS. IT'S CALLED PLATEAU.
We all hit them. Watch the carbs- that can add pounds, or leave you in a lurch. Drink more water, and walk walk walk. water water water and walk walk walk. Don't get discouraged. Just keep on commiting to your pouch, and keep away from the goodies!!!!!!!!!!! When you are tempted, drink water. Drink flavored water, or have some tea. Flavored tea.
Or hot cocoa. SF of course!
Took me forever to break it. the plateau. But when it broke, I dropped about 30 pounds. Plus having the TT helped too!
Keep on track by monitoring what you put in your mouth, diary it. Journal it. And that will keep you making sure you are doing what you are suppose to be rather than wonder "am i?"
And honestly, I have heard that at 6 months, it gets harder and harder to drop the weight. Relax. You're going fine, and doing great, and just take a look at your before pics to prove it!!!!
OK????????????? You're fine, deep breath, water, water, water, and walk walk walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Di,
I am just ahead of you for surgery. I found that I have been stalling for several weeks at a time, but still loosing inches. Have you checked that? Then all of a sudden I will drop 6-10 pounds in a week. I also found that if I increase what I eat a day (eating mid morning and an afternoon snack - generally fresh fruit) that it helps to keep my inches going down and then my pounds going down.
I try to keep my protein up also. When I cannot get in what I need for food, I will have milk at night (after dinner but before going to bed). You get 8 grams of protein in 1 cup of milk, so every little bit helps...unless you can't do dairy!!
I also find when I hit my stalls that I start to think 'why did I do this! This is all I am going to loose?'. Then when I feel like I should throw in the towel and have something bad for me, I think again and don't! Not long after that I start to drop again.
Hang in there....you will start to drop again.

I am in the same boat as you (you look great, by the way). I am almost 8 months out now and I haven't lost but 2 pounds in the last month and none of that was during the past 3 weeks. I'm doing everything right - - way more than 64 oz of water, the right amount of protein, carbs from veggies/fruit (not bread, potatoes, etc.). I am way more active than I used to be but "working out" continues to be a problem because of my knees. I do what I can and I've added a LOT more walking into my days. I have had issues with my thyroid since surgery - my dose has been adjusted 3 times so far. My regular doc feels that may be why I'm losing so slowly compared to others (I've lost 75 pounds so far and others in my same surgery month are way ahead of me, some are actually at goal).
It is discouraging and it's hard to be patient. I keep worrying that I won't lose any more than I have. I guess I'm feeling particularly bummed today because I have an appointment tonight with my regular doc and I bet the scale hasn't moved much since the last time. He has a somewhat backward, less than enthusiastic attitude about WLS and will probably have something negative to say.
I hope this is just a "pause" for both of us...
Karen
