feeling real blue
will be 7 days tomorrow post op, can't get in/out of own bed without feeling strain, sf stuff is getting me down, have to nap in recliner, my back is hurting, stomach or what ever its called out front. hurts,
ok its time what did i do?
s f jello is not agreeing with me and neither is broth, the only thing i'm sipping water, juice popsicles.
i have a few issues with cori/ mso ??
how do they do post op appts.
The broth you buy in a can sucks.
Take a can of Campbell's chicken soup or vegetable beef and cook it as usual. Skim off 3 oz of that broth and add an ounce of water and drink that. It is way better.
Try a little Isopure in the bottle. The Blue and red ones taste like Kool aide and are loaded with protein. Drink only a 1/4 of it at a time.
Your back hurts for a bunch of reasons and the best is that you are losing weight and your weight is shifting. Walking helps move the muscles and liquid Tylenol Adult works better than loritab for the pain.
I can't answer the questions for you because it has changed so much from when my wife and I were there. I would suggest however that you call before you leave and make sure you still have an appointment.
Positive vibes for you. Feel better.

Plan on being there a couple hours. They schedule everyone for the same time. (Get there early for a better chance of being seen first). Then everyone is taken in to see the NUT together and from there people are taken one by one to an exam room to see the doc.
As for your first 7 days, I existed mostly on water as I had a hard time with broth and jello. If you are not taking your pain pills, take them. You just had major surgery and will be sore. I am 6 weeks out and still have soreness. I wore my binder to bed those first weeks for added support getting in and out. Took several days for me to be able to get out on my own. Mkae sure you are walking around the house. I spent alot of time that first week on my feet as much as possible. I also used pillows in bed and bought a pillow with arms on it to help out in bed.
It does get better as you move around more and have a little more variety to eat. Take care.

Know that these are all normal feelings right now. You're going through a lot of changes!
Kevin's chicken soup suggestion is what saved me during my first few weeks!!! I HATED the broth. SF popsicles are fine (although you'll get sick of them after a while).
I slept in my recliner for weeks after my surgery, it was just easier!!
Walk as much as you can, it REALLY does help!!!
I don't know how CORI does their apt.s now, but if it's anything like when I was there - bring a book and something to eat!!! I recall sitting for HOURS!!!
Each week gets better and better!!! Keep you chin up.

i remember this feeling too...........just remember it will pass...seriously by even the 14th day you will feel much differently...........you and your body and mind are going thru alot of things right now on top of the healing...........so be gentle with yourself and just stay on task.........i had trouble too with the sf stuff---everything tasted so sweet right after surgery. Your big thing needs to be to focus on getting your protein and water in and your vitamins..........and walking..........if the sun ever shines again! you will feel so much better just moving around. EAch time you get to advance to another food eating level--clear to full to soft etc..you will feel better...but you need to let your pouch heal and your mind get used to dealing with the changes that you are going through. Also remember that you wont feel like this forever........it is hardest in the beginning as you are healing and learning how to eat again.........but it all changes over time too.........so just let yourself be.....it all comes with time.be good to you! hug rae
I saw the title of your post and guessed that you were just about a week out. I'm sorry that you are having the miseries, but you are right on schedule. Between the surgical pains and the taste buds being all jacked around (technical term), you aren't ready for the hormonal dumping that is just beginning to start.
This too shall pass, but unfortunately, not right away. The pain will get ever so slightly better every day, stuff will taste yucky for some time (diet Ocean Spray got me through a miserable week or so) and the blues will come and go as the fat mobilizes and releases estrogen into your system. But in about ten more days, your underwear will be just too big. And the scales may or may not show it, but the inches will start to fall away. And you will have a whole new list of foods to choose from, life will get better.
We have all been there. I questioned myself every day when I was still healing. "Did I do the right thing?" I was so miserable. I couldn't get comfortable, the pain killers made me want to sleep all the time, and the sugar free liquids and jello gave me a really bad taste in my mouth. But I stayed with the program and got through it. I felt a little better each day and moving around got easier and easier. It was about a month before I could sleep on my tummy or side.
On September 15, 2006 I weighed in at 300.6 pounds. On my surgery date, October 4, 2006 I was at 282.4 pounds. Today, I weigh in at 228.0 pounds; almost half way to goal. I have lost 16 inches off my waist, and my legs are already half the size they were pre-op. I can actually wear XL lounge type pants, with no numbers in front of it. My shirts hang on me like tents now. I wear them though, as a reminder to myself of how far I have come. I kept the clothes I wore for my "before" pictures so I can wear them in my "after" pictures when I reach my goal weight of 150 pounds.
These few weeks of misery will soon be forgotten, my friend. Your WOW moments are coming and they are and will always be your inspiration. Please remember to share all of them with us. Take care and be patient.
