Denial #1

Well I finally heard from BCN and they denied me. They say that the info from my PCP was to sporadic. My PCP says that he has looked at my charts and has record of at least once a month visits. They always record my weight and tell me to excercise more. I also have my sugar tested a lot because we are having a hard time controlling it. So they are always (for the past 13 months) telling what not to eat. I'm not giving up though! I have just begun to fight! I would appreciate and suggestions for my appeal letter. My PCP also has to write an appeal letter so any helpful hints would be great. Thanks!! Joni

Sounds like the typical BCN crap. I did not have BCN when I had surgery but have it now. I know there are people on here who do have BCN and I hope they will help you out! Good Luck and keep your chin up!

Sorry to hear that you were denied... Good luck with your appeal... I can't help you with that, but I hope it all goes well and you get an approval the next time around. Shawn M.

No matter what the letters say , odds are you will still be denied and have to go in front of the board in person to appeal. In your letter make sure to put every aspect of your life that is affected.....sex, walking, then list your comorbidities and all the meds you take, especially note the problems with your sugar. make sure your pcp notes on the appeal that you had however many months of consecutive dieting and weighing in. When you get to your in person appeal let me know and i'll send you a copy of my appeal i used so you can get some ideas. Hugs Linda

When making an appeal, make sure that you enclose copies of the reports your doctor makes each visit. Stress the major factors and how they can be lessened or elimated completely with the surgery. Don't give up!!
