these sites will answer alot of questions you might have..good luck, rae
I had both done many years ago when I was having severe stomach pain. Turned out to be gallbladder, which I had removed. But from what I recall, neither were too bad. Upper--I think I just drank a chaulky type gunk before--not tasty but it didn't bother me. I think for the lower GI, the prep was the worst part. You know, drinking that stuff they give you and I had to give myself an enema----oh fun....but I'd rather give my own then have someone else do it!!!! I wasn't put during the actual procedure, but it wasn't too bad. I remember having some gas pains and some pressure during it and just kind of embarrassed having my behind exposed. But it was years and years ago, so maybe the procedures are different now. But in any case, I'd say not pleasant, but not too bad either! Good luck!
the upper is absolutely no biggie. you drink some chalky stuff and then they take x-rays. it's much like the leak test we have after our surgery. the lower is a little tough on your pride and a little uncomfortable but no great hassle. unless it's changed drastically in the last 15 or so years it's basically an enema with some x-rays.
don't sweat it, it's small change.
My area of expertise.
I have found through various readings, meetings and board discussions including things from a man on OH named DX that,,,,,,,,
We stink.
A few options and methods to clear the air so to speak are:
Chew more & eat slower. It allows what's left of our innards to digest better.
Watch out for some combinations of food that will "ferment" when placed together. When in our old stomachs that wasn't a problem because digestive juices would work on them before they can stink.
Lots of water to keep things moving so there is less time to stink.
Avoid them foods that make gas in a normal because they will produce huge amounts in us GAPs.
Avoid any trans fats/olean/plastic oils. It makes it 10 times worse
Devrom helps.
Enjoy it when it happens. There is nothing finer than watching peoples faces when they get their first wiff of bariatric butt. Enclosed places like elevators are my favorite.
Theatrical events are cool to because people are trapped for the most part. Jon's kids did a musical in the fall and while perched in the audience with Jon and his family I would occasionally sneak one out and watch the people around me twitch. While driving to work with my son in tow I let'm rip. He sleeps for most of the trip and to watch him jump when that cloud reaches his nose is heart warming.

I REMEMBER BEING AT A CONCERT THIS PAST SUMMER AND MY SISTER (SHE HAS A COLOSTOMY) HAD GAS AND HER BAG BURPED....OMG THE PEOPLE IN THE AREA MOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEPPERS THEY GOT UP AND MOVED AWAY FROM HER!!!!!!!! IT CAN'T BE HELPED WHEN THAT HAPPENS BUT IT WAS FUNNY TO SEE THEM ALL WAVING THEIR PROGRAMS AND GETTING UP TO MOVE TO A NEW PLACE TO SIT!!!!!
