Linda, Yes, I'm definately going to have the surgery. Laparoscopic Roux-NY. I gave up trying to get a letter from my PCP to submit to BCBS-PPO, but my rheumatologist said she'd be more than happy to write me one. I have an appointment with her tomorrow and just finished writing a letter to give her as a sample (of samples I've compiled from this site). I've only gone to her for a little over a year, and only for arthritis, but I'm hoping that will still work, and BCBS will approve. It's a no-brainer, as far as I'm concerned!!!! Then I have to get a cardiac clearance before I can schedule surgery. I'm guessing some time in March.....I'm finally at peace with it, know it's what I HAVE to do, and although I know I'll be scared when the time draws near, and know I have some struggles ahead of me, I'm looking forward to the day I can happily and triumphantly say "This was the best thing I've ever done for myself!!"
