HAD FUN WITH HORSES TODAY

Patt/Judy/Jenny: I used to live in Lexington, KY for 19 years of my life. Went to 17 Kentucky Derby's Went to Keeneland Race Track three times a week Went to the KY Horse Park to see the Rolex 3 Day every year (spring) Went to the KY Horse Park to see horse shows every season Had three friends who worked at Calumet (Secretariat's home) -- spent many a summer out there.... Lexington is my home, and is a beautiful place. Horse country is indeed breathtaking, gorgeous "bluegrass" hillsides, and amazing Thoroughbreds and horses of all breeds. Check out Ithaca, MI for horse shows online, and also @ Millbrook in Grand Rapids, they have newspapers showing upcoming equestrian shows and events and sales. I posted the url earlier. The Lippizanner Stallions will be at Van Andel (I think- either there or DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids sometime this spring. It's a show you should attend next to the Horse Expo in March at MSU. Judy, Hi there. I also look forward to the Expo at MSU every March. I believe that this year it will be March 9, 10, 11. That is on a Friday, Sat, Sun. On Friday night is the finals or is it the semi finals, of the High School Rodeo. I love to go to see this along with the show. We have Standardbreds, a yearling filly, 3 yr old colt, and a broodmare due with her first baby the end of this month. We will soon be starting foalwatch. As with a first time Mom you never know when they will deliver. This will be our 3rd baby since we started breeding. It is so neat but have never caught them delivering. They are secreative little stinkers but have a new weapon this year to help us. Of course we have to strip 1 oz of milk to do the checking and she is not taking to kindly to being touched near her teats lately. We have been touching for the past 3 months but the past few days she doesn't like it. Sounds like alot of fun to meet up with fellow OH members at the Horse Expo. I have been going to them now for 15 years. It is a blast to go. I like the MSU one over the one at Bridgeport as it is much bigger and of course the rodeo, which is free when you pay for your admission. Hope to be able to see everyone then. Brenda
