Thursday was my 2 week mark and today I bought a scale...it says I'm down 20 lbs?? I made everyone in my house get on to make sure it's right, and I'm still not believing it. Although I suppose it might be possible since I only spent 3 days on full liquids before being rushed to the hospital because I was vomitting blood. Lost a little over a pint in 10 minutes, so that was quite scary. By the time I got to the hospital, it decided to come out the other end. Thankfully it was an ulcer and they were able to stop the bleeding. I'm back on clear liquids again and will resume full liquids in a few days. I'm going to guess this is a big part of such a big loss? Or is that common for new post ops?? I honest could handle a 10lb. per week loss. I'd be at goal in 4 months then...LOL!! Thanks for reading and it's good to be among the living!!

WOW...what an ordeal you went through. Glad you are doing much better now! yeah it is fairly common to lose a chunk like that right at the start. Between your water weight loss and the fact that you are barely eating anything....it all just melts away or I should say flushes away. hehehe. Soon enough your body will get an idea that this isnt a crash diet and will try to stop the loss...and your first plateau will emerge. Stay strong! My advice to you is to hide that scale NOW! lol It is an oppressive and severely evil device that can cause us to have massive mood swings all depending on the numbers it decides to show us at any given moment. I just weighed in at my surgeons office for the first year. It kept me from obsessing and for the few months gap since I was there last it always showed a nice sized chunk of weight lost too...so keeps the spirits up that way. =) Jus****ch the changes in your body by the way clothing now fits or the way you can now feel bones that stick out in places that never did before instead of the scale number...it is truly much more rewarding.

Shawn, Sorry to hear about all you have been through... Wow... I can't even imagine.... I am sure being on liquids for so long has sped up your weight loss a bit, but the first couple weeks are usually pretty fast (I think), then is starts to slow down some. I am glad they figured out what we wrong and were able to take care of you right away. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Take care and good luck. Shawn M.

Sorry you had to endure that stuff. However it is good to have you where you belong! For me, I lost the most weight in the first 6 months. Then I plateaued for what seems like an eternity. I couldn't get out of the 160's. It was insane. Try your hardest to lose all you can in the first 6 months, because after that -- your body starts slowing down the weight loss process. That's what I was taught. But everyone is different. Expect things to move quickly, remember how little you eat now, and make sure to sip sip sip and walk walk walk and chew chew chew!!! Good Luck!! Wow, what a hard start you had. I'm glad they got you on the road to recovery. That's a great weight loss. You should plateau at about 5 weeks (most of us do and it drives us crazy) but it's normal. Just keep in mind that when the scale isn't moving to take your measurements because you're probably losing inches and then the weight will catch up. I've lost 100 lbs in 6 months & 1 week but my nutritionist said that now the weight will come off slower. I wi****'d wait another 20 lbs but at least I'm ready for it.
