Tomorrow is my appt with Dr Carlin. I have all my paperwork in order...I hope Also my excercise appt...not sure what that is called. I am worried about having to lose the weight before surgery.....seems nothing has been working..so how will I do it. But also am anxious to get things going. I want to be on the other side!!! Tonight....my husband took me to a local jeweler and I got to pick out a new wedding ring. With a real diamond!!! so bright ya need these! It is for everything we have gone thru in the last 4 yrs. He has been very ill and I took very good care of him, if I say so myself...and if anyone has ever taken care of ill spouse.....you know....you get all the anger directed at you...cause you are there...But we put up with it cause we love them. Anyway....this was his way of saying Thank You. While we were there...we were chatting with the salesman and telling him why we were buying the ring....and my husband....who always thinks ahead...said...can this ring be sized because she is having GB surgery and will have smaller fingers. He said the owner of the shop also had it done...and he was standing there...with a customer of his own and she offered that she had had it done also. His surgeon was Dr Carlin, and she had her s done 7 yrs ago. They both looked FAB!!! Just kinda bizarre...thought I would add that. So on to my appt I will go ....and whatever he hands me to do...I WILL DO!!! I am not turning back now. Can't wait to meet Dr Carlin...have heard good things about him. And I really like dealing with Wanda....I am sure the rest of the staff is also friendly. Wish my luck!!!

It is so good to see that you are getting closer to your goal of having surgery. It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. I am 4 months post-op now and I have lost 78 lbs. I feel like a new person. I still have a long way to go and I look forward to feeling even better. Best Wishes! Stacey B

Nerves keep you pumped! grin We were all nervous----some able to express it more than others! this is going to be a whole new life and you will not believe how wonderful it will be. Just stay committed to the process, do what the doc says.....and use your friends here for support........and tell me if your husband has a brother............grin! good luck rae

Good Luck at your appointment! The pre-op "diet" can be tough. Remember we're here if you need help. Don't forget that the Westside Winners are going to start meeting at the mall to walk on Saturdays. Exercise is the best way to get those pre op pounds off. You'll do great.....a whole new life is waiting for you. Brenda

hi deborah! i'm so excited for you i just wanted to let you know, and really not to freak you out or scare you. and i'm sure u already know because you've researched and researched! but the preop diet is to actually shrink your belly And your Liver. because your liver can be so huge and fatty that it can get in the way and the surgeon wont be able to see very well around it to make your pouch. my friend just had surgery wednesday and admittedly, she did not follow her preop diet very well. she had to drink chicken broth. she did not shrink her liver and her surgeon had to make her pouch about 30 CC's bigger than what is normal! we're both very nervous about how that will work for her.. that's so awesome about your diamond! how fun!! take care -Sarah
