Why do I keep getting the hiccups? Am I doing something I shouldn't be doing? Marie

Marie, I seem to get the hiccups ALL the time now too. It is very random too, not always when I am eating. I have no clue... they can be very painful sometimes too.... If you find out the answer let me know... Shawn M.

One signals me that I am at capacity. Two and I had better stop eating. Three and I could be in trouble and I may see my food again. I have no feelings of fullness or hunger so that is how I tell. They are short, quick, almost violent anymore. It sounds as if I am swallowing a bug. If I don't have my mouth open when they happen I snort. When I'm on my game I'll follow up with a fart and really get people to talking. kp

I don't have feelings of fullness or hunger, either. I often feel the need to burp when I'm eating, to relieve the pressure, but the pressure is in my chest, not my pouch. I thought this was the feeling of food getting stuck that everyone talks about. Could this also be because I'm full, just not feeling it? Marie

i frequently have three big hiccups when i am done eating............i think like kp it is a signal........usually we get hiccups because there is irritation to the diaphragm......maybe there is something in relation to the surgery that stimulates the nerve to the diaphragm (phrenic nerve) that does this for us now since surgery........hug and hiccup, rae
