Sick of liquids...
I know I need to follow these orders but, the whole liquid thing is getting old. 2 days before surgery and now 7 days after. I am 6 days out and I feel great, I actually tried a spoon of cream of wheat(plain of course) and it was great. I feel like I am hungrey all the time, what am i not doing right? I see the dr on friday and cant wait. Any one here have any suggestions and did anyone progress their diet to earlier and what happened? thanks,
stick to the program.......part of the reason for being on liquids is to make sure that your pouch heals adequately-------you may be able to tolerate other things......but one of the keys is to let your pouch heal-----------challenging it with things to early can just set you up for probs.........really the time will pass fast, and you will be glad that you did it the way it should be done.........your pouch is sensitive even though you are feeling well..........humor it! hug rae
Hey Selena!
Grit your teeth and bear with it. I have one day left before I can move on to pureed foods and I can't wait because I am sick to death of sweet things going into my mouth!
however- I knew surgery was a tool and the LIFE CHANGE was mine to make, so buckle down- it's temporary! You will feel much better if you do!

Hi Selena,
Please do stick to the plan your surgeon gave you. I am almost 3 months post-op and as time has passed, the pouch has healed enough that I can handle almost anything in small amounts. NOT GOOD. And being a lifelong obese person with food issues, I am so scared of falling off the wagon and going back to my old ways. I followed the plan until I got about half way through the pureed food time. I just could not handle any more baby food textures. I tried stuff like meat I had to actually chew, chili, crackers, etc...OUCH. That pouch will surely talk back. When that happened, I basically had to start all over. The other day, against the pouch-friendly plan, I made myself a 6" hoagie on an italian roll, with tons of meat, cheese, etc. I am NOT supposed to be eating bread. I ate that damn hoagie, bread and all...about half of it. I did not dump, but for the next 2 days, my stomach felt as if I just got off the operating table. It was so sore, like someone punched me. I learned my lesson. No bread for at least 6 months, unless it is toasted well; and only tiny amounts. For the most part, I am pretty good. I sip all day, eat small amounts several times a day...high protein food, and I take my vitamins and supplements religiously. But once in awhile, I screw up and eat some crap that hurts me, like bread, or I eat too fast, and I pay dearly with pain, foamies, bloating, and trouble "eliminating."
Do what the doc says and stick to the plan. It is worth the trouble, really.
Good luck,
KathyG
