*HELP WITH PROTEIN!!!!
You could try some fat free refried beans with a little cheese on it. That seems to go down really well. I ended up putting my chicken in the food processor and making it into chicken salad (like tuna, you know?) I have just lately gotten to where chicken isn't too much of a problem and I am 20 months out! I know how that stuck feeling is --IT HURTS! Yogurt is a friendly food and you could add soy protein to it to bring up the count. Hope that helps some, you'll get a lot of suggestions in no time! Take care, Pam
Lean cuisine mac and cheese has protein and is soft
low fat cottage cheese is good protein
wendy's chili in the food processor or blender is good protein
(we were allowed that at 3 weeks out as long as it was pureed)
peanut butter (low sugar, low fat/carb) I ate mine right out of the jar
is good protein
i did taco bells beans and cheese (would eat about 2 bites) and that was good protein (we were allowed that also)
Legumes (beans) that are mushed up would be good protein
you could make a bean soup, add unflavored protein, some ground turkey or chicken, and put it in a food processor or blender to mu**** up.....
how about cream cheese? fat free isnt there protein in that?
and also if you eat seafood, maybe look at seafood bisque soups in the freezer or gourmet section of your store...I love Lobster Bisque and I believe there is some protein in that
Check with your WLS or NUT for other ideas too!
Good Luck!

At that point I was mainly getting protein from supplements. Until you finish "healing" there is no way to really get all of the recommended protein amounts in with out them. I ate refried beans, cottage cheese, Wendy's chili, tuna fish, cheese, and LOTS of protein drinks. If you are not doing shakes, or ready to drink protein that would be my number one recommendation.
I hope that helps some!

Hello Marie!
I asked the same question at that point. KP gave me a list of things that included:
Fish Sticks-Van DeKamps makes a healthy version
1/4 to 1/2 a grilled cheese
peanut butter with crackers
I ate and still eat cheese and crackers. I also do ground turkey. You can make it with some taco seasoning and put refried beans and cheese with it. You could also add a scoop of your protein mix to sugar free pudding.

see if this helps with information about what to eat.

(I couldn't eat ground beef at 3 weeks out but that sounded good, so I did ground turkey)

Cream soup, all kinds
chili (no beans)
ground meats (beef, turkey, chicken, liver) mixed with some broth
other soft fish (not fried) well cooked and mashed with the back of a fork
egg salad
smooth refried beans
low-sugar peanut butter
cooked cream of wheat
plain oatmeal
grits
mashed or baked potato (no skin)
well-cooked pasta or rice, very small amounts because they swell
Lite smooth yogurt with less than 12 grams sugar
low fat crackers
canned fruits with no sugar added
bananas
apple sauce
carrots (should be made soft, I think)
Green beans
squash
Hey Marie, guess where I got this info? Sounds like you are doing okay, boredom isn't all bad.
Be careful with the ground beef..it is very high in fat. Try ground sirloin or round. I would definitely limit the ground beef. I drink the Advant-Edge protein drinks in the silver carton, comes in 4-packs for about $6...100 calories and 15 grams protein. They taste pretty good if really cold, and can be used as a meal replacement. The strawberry cream is tasty. You could get the chocolate fudge flavor and puree with peanut butter for added protein. I just add unflavored powder to stuff to bump up the protein grams. My blender is my best friend. Lol. Good luck.
