Hi Everyone, I just wanted to ask some of you who have already had surgery, about the pain level. I just had a lap gallbladder surgery. Does anyone know how the pain compares with a lap ryn? I'm hoping to have surgery in Feb. or March and I can tolerate pain pretty well. But I STILL want to know what I'm looking at. Thanks for any imput you might have. Joni

I haven't had my gallbladder out, but have had a couple of lap surgeries before. I would have to say, for me, they felt the same as far a pain wise. I did take my pain meds the first 3 nights home. I haven't taken any since, I am 11 days post op now. Hope this helps a bit. Happy Holiday's!!!!! R

i had my WLS done lap and the pain level was not too bad at all. The only bad pain i had was when i ate too fast. I hear that gallbladder surgery is much more painful but thankfully i have not experienced it.

Hi Joni, I got the buy one get one free special.....I had my gallbladder taken out during my lap RNY. I had a lot of nasuea, but not a lot of pain. I will tell you......I felt so good as far as pain goes, that I overdid it about 10 days after surgery and it felt like I pulled a muscle in my side. That was uncomfortable, but not unbearable, and I did go back on the pain meds for a few days because of that. If you don't go crazy and overwork yourself, you should be fine. If you handled any pain you had from the gb surgery, the lap RNY should feel about the same, maybe a little less. Brenda

Hi Joni - Pain-wise it was about the same for me. Off meds after I left the hospital...what gets ya though is the gas they use to blow ya up with if you dont get enough walking in to help pass it. Settled in my chest area for both phases of my DS. I just had my GB removed 2 weeks ago Lap...and didnt have hardly any gas pain...go figure Perhaps after I shrunk in size...the internal cavity isnt so large any more either lol D
