Bleeding, leaking, drainage

Since last night, I've been spotting blood at my incision down at the base, I've been leaking light colored fluid all day today, and draining about 2-3 tablespoons every 2-4 hours. I've alerted Dr. DiNick (Carey) and await for a phone call from him sometime today. (Hopefully soon) In the meantime, I'm asking for positive vibes and prayers and thoughts and well wishes because I'M FREAKING OUT HERE. It wouldn't be so bad, but I'm at work right now (about to run home to change clothes!) and can't really drive to YPSI this afternoon. What on earth do I do????? THIS IS SCARING ME. Stacey W

It sounds like serous sangous (sp) fluid sometimes little pockets can get near incision lines it can be a clear blood tinged sometimes on the yellow side fluid as long as you are not running a fever and don't notice any smells this can be a natural part of the healing process. Get a sanitary napkin and use that as a dressing to absorbe drainage. Good Luck stacy jenny b wise

Thing is, I've noticed a weird smell, and Sunday I felt feverish. I am not today however. I'm just feeling bizarre that this has been happening lately. Sure, part of the healing process I understand but when I am wearing a surgical dressing and it leaks through 1/2 inch of it, onto two of my garments, it's time to be concerned. I see part of it trying to come off, and it's pulling away from the site, and I'm sure that's where the fluid is coming from -- honestly, I don't want to look at it -- it really makes me nauseated. Thanks for the tip....I went home and changed clothes for now, and brought extra stuff with me just in case. Stacey W

It is not red, a little warm. The pad I just changed at home is nasty. I dont even want to discuss it. Dr DiNick called, said what he needed to, advised me to keep pads on it, and he will see it this Saturday. Not to worry, he said. It is NORMAL. He will take great care of it this Saturday so I feel much better now having spoken to him. Whew. Sometimes I feel like I bother him, but in reality, it's what he does, and he does it so greatly.
