I have a friend who is morbidly obese, probably weighs more than 450 lbs who has a kidney stone. Does anyone know where there is a lithotripsy table that can hold him? He's tall probably over 6'2". Did anyone have a stone when they were this size? Jeanne

Lithotripsy is where they put them in water and send shock waves to crush a kidney stone there is no table involved. But they do have a weight limit because they have a lower the person in the water and lift them out.

Tricia, There can be a table involved using newer technology/machines. "There are two types of shock wave technology. The original lithotripsy machines sent the shock waves through water in a tub in which the person being treated was placed. This technology remains in use today. More recently, machines have been developed that send shock waves through padded cushions on a table, so the procedure does not involve immersing a person in water." I'm wondering if they did try it because they did put a stent in. Of course, I'm getting all of this from his mother. Jeanne
