TV
We got rid of cable tv earlier this year- aroudn Sept. because we were never home because of our schedules and I refused to spend money on something that took away from family time- anyhow now that I have been home on recovery I've been watching old video tapes as I fall asleep - and it dawned on me just how many commericals there are for crap food! I counted- during one segment there were 4 fast food ads and one for soda.
I'm probably slow in the epiphany area- but it irritates me that so many junk food commercials are on.
I think I like not having a tv during recovery period- less to remind me what I can't have- I've switched to DVD's at nap time- no commercials :D
Jennifer ~~ off to pace the house one more time!~~
I found the MUTE button to be really helpful.
Oh, btw, if you watch PUBLIC BROADCASTING, they don't air food commercials. We have yet to air MCdonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC food commercials....because we are not a commercial station, they don't advertise here. We air what are called Underwriting credits.
So watch more PUBLIC TELEVISION. (yes, I'm biased, I work for PBS!)

I work for PBS, but I have worked for CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX.
I have been in broadcasting for 26 years. Not only TV, but radio.
(radio is my 2nd blood over anything, it just never paid enough. I was a professional radio DJ for many years of my life)
I presently am broadcast engineer for PBS here and my duties include but are not limited to: operation and maintenance of 10 tv station (simulcasting our main signal) www.wcmu.org for the coverage map,
day to day tape recordings and transmitter readings, program continuity and monitoring day to day programming on air. I am also training the FM staff on software program they will be using in 2007 called Audio Vault and A/V Air, which I will be the stand by engineer for. Primarily many of my days are spent in what is called "Master Control"...where the main broadcast signal is sent out and monitored along with all the transmitters. We have 6 analog stations and 4DTV stations that I am responsible for.
Not bad for a girl, huh?
