I am home from Harper!!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am home from Harper. My surgery was Thursday. I arrived at 11:30 like they told me, got me ready in preop and bumped me to 5pm. Didn't get to my room until 12:15am. My epidural did not work and woke up in pain. Switched me to a morphine pump which was usless. The more I pushed it the woosier I got. After several attempts by the nurse, I was finally switched to a dilaudid pump late friday night where I had much better pain control and was able to get out of bed. Was then able to get the rest I needed and be up as I needed to be as well. I came home yesterday and am doing very well. Pain is more soreness and am keeping the strong stuff for night time. I feel good and am trying really hard to get the fluids in. Thank you so much Jeanne for checking on us Thursday and seeing me on Friday. I have to keep reminding myself that even though I feel good, I need to take it easy and let my family take care of stuff. Being a nurse, I am a caregiver first, so it is hard to sit back and let others care for me. Actually sat down to watch Law and Order today, something I haven't done in ages.
