Pain from possible hernia after eating?

Hi all, I have had a hunch for some time now that I have a hernia in and just above my belly button. It aches sometimes, kind of pops if I push in in on it, but especially hurts after I eat, actually buldges out and protrudes from my tummy and really smarts! I think I can notice it visibly, (unless I'm imagining it!) but most wouldn't. If I get really gassy from something, it REALLY hurts and buldges. Feels like the food has gone into the intestine and pushes it out....kind of pinches. It's hard to describe, obviously! I have no problem having bowel movements (other than the normal occasional constipation). So...I'm guessing this is a hernia. Anyone know if this sounds like one? Yes, I am going to get it checked out soon. Just wondering....Theresa P.S. Could this be one of the reasons I seem to be able to eat more these days and don't feel hungry very long???

Oops! What I meant in that last sentence was, " don't feel full very long." It's been long day! Theresa

Hi Theresa, You seem to be describing the pain that I have been having for some time now. Mine is about 1 1/2 - 2 inches above my belly button. Dr. Genaw thought for sure it was a hernia and actually went in lap to do the repair and lo and behold, found no hernia. Since I did not have the pain before my TT, he figured it must be related to that, probably from scar tissue, maybe pinching a nerve. He does not do that kind of work and since my insurance has changed, I cannot go back to the PS that did my TT, so I am trying to figure out who to turn to next. I have found some relief from taking Neurontin, prior to taking it I couldn't even lift my purse without intense pain. I, too, have been able to eat more than it seems I should of many things, though I am having trouble with some foods causing discomfort that did not before. Please keep us posted on what you find out and I will do the same, Thanks, Kathie

Hi Theresa, It sounds like a hernia to me. You know the new rules around here (at least from my stand point). If you are having any kind of pain from the top of the tummy down see your surgeon A.S.A.P. My pain was a symptom of something far more serious, and nearly caused my death. Not trying to scare anyone but ~GET IT CHECKED OUT A.S.A.P. Pain is nothing to play around with. Love you. God bless, Annette
