Pre-Op testing
Well, after a week long vacation in St.Martin this past week, and seeing the so-called beach pictures. I am ready to go forward with WLS. Prior to my vacation I was riding the fence on whether or not to have the surgery.
I have my intial consult with the surgeon scheduled for Januaury 8th. My questions is, which of the pre-op testing can I get done prior to the that first consult? I realize each surgeon has different theories, but I was hoping to get some of them completed yet this year since I already have my annual deductible fulfilled.
Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated
Again, check with the doctor's office. I had enough comorbidities that I didn't have to do a sleep study and I saw the nutritionist at my doctor's office as part of the training to follow my doctors plan. If you aren't certain which surgeon you will go to, you should wait and see what your final choice requires. Sorry, I don't think you can save your deductible without working with the surgeon's office. Give them a call!
If you are still choosing, I would suggest the doctor with the best specs AND the best follow up program. You will need good support after surgery as well as skill in the operating room.

If you have cancer in the family or blood in your stool, I am sure your doctor would authorize a colonoscopy. That was one of my pre-ops.
Hi Curt,
Everyone is different, so not everyone needs to have the same pre-op tests done. I had to see an exercise specialist, cardioligist, sleep Dr., lung function tests, and some assorted other tests done. You may want to call your surgeon and ask what they require that you have done and maybe start working on trying to get them done. Best wishes to you.
God bless,
Annette
