Insurance blues
Hi all,
I have not yet had surgery but had hoped to have it in a couple of months. I am going to Hurley Bariatric Center and have Dr. Obeid as my surgeon. I have done everything that has been requested but my family doctor just called me and told me that she couldn't sign the sheets of my weight loss history for the months that I didn't see her. Well, I have been on a diet since Oct. 2005 but skipped going monthly to the doctor from April until July 2006. My insurance, MCARE, requires 12 months of doctor supervised visits, at least monthly with an 80% attendance record. Do you think I should tell Hurley to go ahead and submit it for approval or wait 8 more months. I have done everything else. I have my psych. evaluation, cardio clearance, family doctor approval, etc. Will all the testing still be good in 8 months? I am so frustrated. On top of all of this, my cat was just diagnosed with diabetes and I have to give her two shots of insulin daily. The worry and the concern over the $ cost is driving me crazy.
It is great to have a place to vent. Thank you,
Susan

Hey Susan,
Call M-Care and speak to a representative- they're pretty good about telling you exactly what you need if you explain what you have done. (I looked at them for an insurance carrier a year ago and went with BC/BS because thier documentation and hoop jumping was a bit less!).
At least I have found they were helpful when you have a list of sepcific questions.
As for your other tests- I was told they were good for a year from one of the nurses at Hurley.
Good luck with your kitty!
