Stool Softner in my pre-natals!

I went to a different pharmacy yesterday to get my prenatals filled. The lady asked me if I realized that the brand of prenatals I was using had switched a few months back and had added a stool softner! Ahhhh! I said No I had no idea. So I called MMPC today and got them to call in a prescription for prenatals without the stool softner! Can you imagine? 2 months now and I was wondering why I have been having stomach issues. Nothing horrible but still. The brand with the stool softner is PreCare Premier Tablets. It's a light orange pill with THER-RX on one side and 195 on the other. Just thought I'd let you all know in case you might be having some issues! Patty

YOWIE!!!! I've never gotten a stool softener on me pre-natals or me post natals for that matter. It's all I can do to keep my natals pre or post out of a vice half the time anyway. BB

Hi Patty: Yes, I got a letter from MMPC over the weekend about this. I have been taking a stool softener since August when they put me on extra iron. I guess the iron they add into the pre-natal vitamins will give you some stomach issues. Hope you're doing OK Eileen

I haven't heard from MMPC yet on this. I have been having loose stools since I started on the PreCare and I never thought anything about that being the problem. I even mentioned the loose stools at my last office visit and nobody said anything.

I haven't recieved the letter either, but I did know the stool softener is in the tablet. Since I have had constipation issues after I went back on foods, I guess in my case its a plus. I sure wish that tablet was smaller! Connie

Have you ever tried the chewable pre-natals? I've been taking them since surgery. They aren't too bad. Mine are prescribed, as well. Just a thought....

Thanks for the replies. I was so tired last night that I went to sleep after posting this. Anyway I guess for some people the stool softner is a plus. I just don't need any help in that area. I've been having repeat bladder infections ever since I had this surgery. I can keep them at bay by drinking lots of water and minimal coffee. I have actually limited my diet pepsi to once a week. If I do that (which is good for me anyway) then the bladder infection stays away but as soon as I don't drink enough water and have too much coffee followed by diet pop then it hurts again. So I have an appointment in January with a urologist. I had an appointment this morning for a pelvic ultrasound due to some pain on my lower right side that was possibly due to my ovaries. Anyway I don't get the results for a few days but I got the impression that everything was fine. That is good. I'm just worried now that I've turned into a hypochondriac. Just venting... Patty Final vent - a lady backed into me on my way out of the doctors office. My car is fine but I was almost in tears I guess from fear. I have another stinking headache and I know tylenol won't help so I'm grumpy. Grumpy, Grumpy, Grumpy.

Hey Patty, I used to have chronic bladder infections for a while a few years back. I stopped eating so much citrus (I was on a grapefruit kick) and I started taking cranberry pills and it stopped. I was constantly on antibiotics and they kept coming back. Knock on wood - I've been good. It sounds like the caffeine really aggrevates you. But I know how lousy it can make you feel having those infections - they are no fun! Hope you get it worked out. Honey, you need to try and lay down to get rid of that headache and just feel better. Take care, Carey

Thank you so much Carey. Sometimes (well most of the time) when I don't feel well I get pretty emotional. As soon as I read "Honey, you need to try and lay down and get rid of that headache and just feel better" I started to cry. So thank you for your compassion. I did lay down and my headache is gone. Thanks again! Patty
