dec. 6th hurley bariatric support group 7pm

i'm going to the support group in flint on dec. 6th. i'm so excited. i'm so desperate to talk to people about it. i'm a pre op. but i WILL have my surgery in may. if any of you live in the flint area or anywhere! come on out. i'm very excited to go and meet people and talk and share excitment. oh, its at the Hurley health and Fitness center in flint. on saginaw street. first monday of every month i'm told.

I am going to be nosey here. Is May the earliest they can get you in for Surgery? I ask because I am still waiting on Insurance approval which everyone says will not be a problem. And I am going to have my surgery at Hurley Flint. I can't wait to get the go ahead to go to the Support Groups and all the other "good" stuff. I know I haven't waited that long but it seems like it is forever.

hi carolyn i'm still doing my sixth month precert diet for medicare. that ends in march and my sister will be up here to help out in may, around our birthdays. so that's why I'm saying may. also you dont need a "go ahead" for a support group. and i'm not sure what other good stuff there is? maybe u can tell me.

hi sarah i had my surgery at hurley in may of 2001 and doing good. a group of us that have had weight loss surgery are meeting tomorrow at applebees on miller road at 11:00 a.m. if ya want to join us. we get together every wednesday and each week we either meet in flint or birch run or saginaw cuz some of the people in the group live in these cities so we meet in different cities every wednesday, hope ya can join us tomorow.we will be glad to help you. take care. hope to see ya soon.

oh geeze! i'm in alabama visiting family right now. but thanks so much for telling me about the group i would love to meet you guys and hear what you have to say. i'm going to add you to my friends so i dont forget who to get in contact with.

Wow I wish I were closer! But it is about 1 1/2 hours from here to Flint. I am hoping to find a group closer but for awhile I would like to do the one a month at Hurley. By other good things, I have lead to understand I will have to take Nutrition classes and something else besides coming to the Support Group. My PCP is being careful in documenting my weight loss endevors from July of this year and I have records clear back to Aug of last year with my previous Dr, who set me on the road to WLS. I would have tried to have it closer to home here. I actually would have loved it at U of M cause that is where all my Dr are and having your own pulmonary in house is a good thing But the U is not a COE yet, they have just started and Medicare would have paid for another hospital closer but Hurley is the only one other then U that my secondary insurance will cover. So I narrowed my search down to Hurley which I had already heard good things about I am leaving for Florida right after Thanksgiving dinner for a month and I was really hoping to have a firm reply from insurance company by then. Thanks for all the info!

Hurley is a wonderful hospital..with wonderful doctors.....I had Dr. Obeid,and he is a God. The man is just awesome! I recently had some complications two and half years out from my surgery, and he was right there to take care of me,,,,,holding myhand and completing the surgery I needed. I even called him at 11:00 PM one night and he took the call and told me to come to Hurley right away. You are not making a mistake with Hurley....the care you will receive is great. thanks so much tracey. i had my daughter at hurley and recieved the worlds worst treatment. so i'm glad you had a good experience with them. i met dr. obeid and he gave me a huge bear hug. i liked him a lot. you have no info on your page! thanks for responding. -sarah

Hurley is great. The support group is great. I had to switch over to McLaren when my insurance changed, but I still attend the support groups every now and then. Maybe I will come this week and meet you, if my kids allow it with their schedules! Wendy

awesome! i got the date wrong by the way. they host them the first monday of the month so that would be dec. 4th, not 6th. i was thinking the sixth because i have my psych eval then.. i'm not quite sure if i can get a sitter to go, but i Should be able to. Dita's been teething i think so she doesnt like it when i pay attention to anything else but her, so i can't bring her. Wendy you're transformation is amazing. i would love to meet and talk with you. i need support, even tho i'm preop! i wanna know everything there is to know. thanks for responding -sarah
