I hope that you can answer some questions that I have. I recently had my labs done and they all came back within normal range, which made me for joy. When the P.A. asked me if I was still taking my Flinstone Vitamins, I said no, I replied that I was now taking one adult chewable a day and she said that I should be taking TWO a day! Then I promptly got lectured about malnutrition! Another thing that was discussed was Vitamin D. While I fell within the normals range, it was on the low side, and wanted me to take Drisdol, 50,000 units once a week. I checked to see if this was a covered drug and it's not, or are any of the possible substitutions. Are there over-the-counter Vitamin D supplements that I can take? I know that some calcium pills have that as an added ingredient, but don't know if that would be enough.

I take half my multi in the am and half in the pm. . During the winter we are all D deficient. We need sunlight. I take a small OTC D supplement everyday from December to April. I get all my vites from a little shop in Lake Orion. I like the independent store owners. The money stays in Michigan. kp

So, do you take two tables, or break one in half and take half in the morning and half in the evening??

I don't know if it helps your mood but when everything is in balance on your blood work you are in balance,,, Sad is ok too. It makes us know when we are happy. And this trip messes with our hormonal balance so we run the gambit as far as moods are concerned. kp

I'm not the Flabby you are looking for but I did find reasonably priced Dry D. It's called Solaray Super Dry ADE. $16.79 for sixty at Better Health. Has 25,000 IU of A, 1000 IU of D and 400 IU of E. The doses are all way more than the daily suggested so maybe you could stretch it to every other day, depending on what better minds think.. My numbers on these have been okay so I haven't tried them yet.

The PA prescribed Drisdol, 50,000 units, once a week. My insurance doesn;t cover this, so I called to price it. It's about $15.00 for 4 pills and when you are limited by your finances, you decide what is necessary or not. I don't know what the difference between a unit and IU would be....

Rhonda , Why don't you just call Alicia and tell her that your insurance won't cover the perscription and ask her what esle you can take, instead of trying to make her look bad here? This really is not very fair of you. She really does care or she wouldn't have said anything to you at all, and would have left you to fend for yourself. She can't help you if you don't tell her what the problem is. If you don't want to deal with her, then call and ask to have Dr.Genaw return your phone call. He is in Surgery so you may not hear back from him today ~you know you will hear back from him ~but you have to call so they know you are not happy! God bless you, Annette

I didn't see Alicia, I saw Elissa and I told her when I saw her that I didn't think my insurance would cover it.
