It's two months over due, but I AM going for my post-op visit at 11:30am down at Henry Ford. Right now I'm as as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs!! I had my bloodwork done last week and will it be or The surgeon never discussed a goal for me, so I wonder if the 90 lbs I've lost will be ok or what? I could lose 5-15 more lbs.... I'm still waiting for the Wellbutrin XL to kick in - it's been a week now and still don't notice a change....

First of all congratulations on your 1 year Anniversary! I'm sure your surgeon will be very pleased with your weight loss! I noticed you take Wellbutrin XL and I was told that any XL (which I thought meant extended release) isn't good for gastric bypass patients. The problem is that it will pass through our system too quickly. That might be why you haven't noticed a difference. Also, I took wellbutrin from March of this year until 1 month ago and of all the antidepressants I have ever been on I noticed the least improvement with that one. Anyway, Congratulations and good luck! Patty

Congrats on being 1 year out.. Wooo Hooo.. You have done a great job... I have to agree with Patty about the Wellbutrin... I know i Have not had my sugery yet, but from what I have learned extended release stuff is not good for us after surgery... I would check it out... oh.. and I have been on that one before as well, and it did nothing for me... if you are not feeling better soon, ask to try something different, that is not extended release or long acting... those are not really made for a gastric bypass system... Best of luck to you and a big ((((((((((((((((((( Rhonda ))))))))))))))))) Shawn M.

I've been back for awhile and wanted to share with you some things: My cholesterol was 119!! I don't ever remember it being that low My Vitamin B-12 was 328 - on the low side but within normal range... Iron was 105, also within normal range... I was never examined by my surgeon, or seen by him!! I was seen by a PA. She harped on me because I wasn't exercising. She was concerned that my Vitamin D was only 21 - although it's withing the normal range, she wants to see it up to at least 30. She wrote me a prescription for Drisdol, but it's not one of the covered drugs, so I'm not gonna fill it. I'm gonna see if I can find something else. Since I was seen by a PA and not the surgeon, I only paid $15. If I'm charged another $15, I will ***** about it because I was not seen by a specialist!

Alicia is a specialist. She only takes care of us ~the barriatric patients. If you wanted to see Dr. Genaw all you had to do was ask. They would have had him come in to see you. She is just looking out for your health. What did you expect? You agreed to exercise and follow the program BEFORE you had the surgery! You know Dr. G. would have said something about that too. 21 is on the lower side of normal. Maybe there is a generic drug for the one she perscribed? If not you can always call her and tell her that one isn't covered by your insurance and ask for a different one. I'm sure she will be more than willing to write something else that will be covered. Take care. God bless you, Annette

Congratulations, Rhonda. I hope that I year from now I will be as joyful as you must be -- had my Lap-Band on 11/14/06 by Dr. Schram @ Barix in Ypsilanti. What a wonderful, caring bunch of people. I am somewhat bloated, and very thankful that I got my household and outdoor chores done before going in. To those on you who posted re: concerns about absorption of Wellbutrin XL, thanks for the 'heads up.' I will ask my PA as I am a Lap-Bander and maybe it is OK for us. Blessing again, now that I am on the bloated but losing side!
