Can anyone tell me if I will still be able to take Darvacet after surgery? I keep forgeting to ask that minor important question. I have MS and use it for the severe headaches I get and pain control.

I am not sure on that one but I can tell you Percocet you can take because after my abdominoplasty, I was taking that. Darvocet and Percocet seem to be from the same family.....I think. Next time -- take an index card with the questions on it you have, and HAND it to your doctor/surgeon. That way you won't forget...I forget stuff too so I write it down. Could check with the main board also but again, the best source to ask is your doc. Stacey W

That's the prescription I left the hospital with, and the pills I took right after I got home. I figured the surgeon knew how big my stoma was and I never did get one stuck. I got pretty loopy on them, but they cut the pain no matter what kind of vivid dreams they gave me. But everbody's different, be sure to check and ask if you can try any substitutions (loratab sounds popular) in advance to see if they will help you.

probably as Darvocet is a very mild narcotic that has tylenol in it not asprin but it's up to your doctors.

My surgeon sent me home from the hospital on Darvacet. I had never taken Vicodin or Loretab but I had had Darvacet in the past. It didn't really work though. The pain was incredible. You can take them but you have to cut them in half. They are too big for your pouch. Stacey B

Lori, I have a very bad knee and degenerative disc disease in my back so I take darvocet a few times a week. I am 8 weeks out of surgery so I am afraid to take them whole so I cut it into 3 sections I first tried to crush them but the taste was awful.
