Just attended my first Informational meeting.

Well, I must have walked by the room hosting the informational meeting a dozen times. I dont know why I couldnt get myself to go in. I kinda felt like I was teenager again, and trying to get the nerve up to buy my first pack of condoms. Well I forced myself in and sat through the very informative information, and even a made an appointment for the surgery consult. I had an opportunity to speak the the insurance lady from the Dr's office, and she reviewed by Humana policy to see if it will cover WLS. She said it would, and I could even start working on some of those objectives needed for WLS, because they dont have a pre-existing medical condition clause. Well I thank everyone for allowing me to read all your posts and profile to gain the strength to start this journey towards a healthier me.

CONGRATS ON MAKING THE FIRST STEP!!!!! THIS IS A LIFE CHANGING STEP....I WILL BE 4 WEEKS POST OP TOMORROW AND FEELING GREAT!!! WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?? YES I SURE WOULD!!!! As for where I will have it done is still to be decided. I mostly went to this informational meeting to get more inforamtion and to see about my insurance. The Meeting today was with Dr. Saber from Borgess in Kalamazoo

I WENT TO A COUPLE DIFFERENT SEMINARS BEFORE I FINALLY DECIDED WHERE I WANTED TO GO. I WANTED ALMA BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSER TO HOME FOR ME BUT THEN THAT DR WOULDN'T TOUCH ME BECAUSE OF SCAR TISSUE ON MY STOMACH AND HE SENT ME TO DR FOOTE IN GRAND RAPIDS. THANK GOD HE DID BECAUSE I HAD SOME OTHER PROBLEMS INSIDE WHEN DR FOOTE DID MY SURGERY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR FOOTE AT MMPC!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!! HUGS JUDY

Hello, I am glad u went. All I can say is this....Gastric By-Pass saved my life. I wish u all the best and hope u have the procedure if u really want it. U have to do it for yourself and know one else. Did they have condoms there?? (lol) Best wishes, Robin

Hey Curt, Have you thought to check out Barix in Ypsi? That's where I had mine. Very happy with everything I went through at their facility. Good to hear your insurance will cover it. Hopefully you will be able to make your decision soon. Best of luck & take care, Carey

I know what a hard step that first one is, so my congratulations go out to you for taking it Curt! I felt such a strength after I went to my seminar....I finally thought, "Hey, I might ACTUALLY lose this weight this time!" What a feeling! Good for you and keep us posted on your progress! Theresa
