I made a yummy breakfast this morning.
I was tired of the same old breakfast, besides that I had no bacon or sausage since I have yet to go to the grocery store. I had a few pieces of Aunt Millies 5 grain bread left so I whipped up some eggs and milk but instead of adding vanilla and sugar, I put 2 tablespoons of low fat Philadelphia whipped cream cheese with cinnamon & brown sugar in. I used my whipper and got it pretty smooth (lumps don't matter because they will be absorbed into the bread). I then soaked the bread and made my french toast. When it was done, I put a small amount of margarine on it but used Sugar Free Vanilla Davinci syrup. Larry kept saying how good the french toast tasted so I finally told him the secret. Try it, it's low fat, low sugar, not too bad on carbs (the bread is a low carb bread) and very low in calories. With one fried egg and 2 pieces of french toast, it's 230 calories, 8 grams of fat, 24 carbs and 16 grams of protein.
Ann:
Thanks so much for this. I have my Lap-Band procedure by Dr. Schram on Tuesday, 11/14/06 but I am already hunting for and cataloging recipes. We have a siuation of "Jack Sprat and His Wife" in our house and husband LOVES French toast -- so guess what he is getting for a Thanksgiving morning surprise? (and I should be able to have a little bit, too!) Thanks for sharing!
