I first of all would like to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts on the date of my surgery. It has been 3 days now post op.. I am in some pain.. but the worst thing that happened today was when I woke up... I had a bowel movement. or so I thought. I had went with major gas... plus blood and some clots. Not to be gross or anything, but I am just curious if anyone had ever experienced this after their surgery. I had called Cori's to see what was happening and they told me to stop the lovenox injections.. it is kind of easing up.. but I am just gassy and my chest kind of hurts. Maybe becasue I am just worrying. I have been keeping up on my fluids and all.. so that is ok. I am holdin it down. I dont know what is going on??? anynone with some advice... please help... Thanks Darlene

Are you talking about blood in your stool? If so, that is not normal at all. Isn't lovenox a blood thinner? Then why clots? Something isn't right. If it happens again i would demand the surgeon to see you or go to the e.r. I hope the pain gets better for you. The gas is normal though, walking should ease it for you. Hugs Linda

I had blood in stool for the first few bm's. I did have some clots, but I guess the rest that was coming out was normal cleansing. But I am doing better today. I have stopped all bleeding and clots. Probably because I stopped the injections. Thanks for the walking tip... That did help. Have a great day Linda.... Hugs... Darlene

Darlene, My first movement after surgery was undescribable, diarrhea, blood, clots, etc. I never had any gas. And I didn't think to call CORI, I just thought it was normal. The blood/clots etc was gone the next one. But I had diarrhea etc for a couple of weeks. Mine was so bad I had a friend bring me some diapers. I think that was an anesthesia effect. Things are all straightened out now. Remember you're on liquids and you just had major surgery on your intestinal tract. Jeanne

Jeanne, I still have some gas.. But I am doing better today. No clots or blood or exiting. But I still have diarrhea. Yes... the liquids effect dawned on me this morning... I feel so darn dense... But this is all too new to me still.. I am learning. Thanks for your reply. Have a blessed day. Darlene

Darlene Had my surgery Sept and had several bowel movements that had blood in them. You have to remember they were in there cutting and you are bound to bleed a little. After a couple of weeks you should be doing okay. Good job on getting your fluids in. I still have to keep close track of that or I wont get enough in. Also I dont know if anyone else has had this situation but my bowel movements are a very strange color- almost a yellow or white. and I am 8 weeks out. I asked dr. Schram at my six week check up and he said it will go normal again with regular food .. still hasnt. Keep up the good work and keep asking questions everyone here is so helpful I dont know how I would have done it without them. Ann South H aven
