alma dr ??

went to my dr today and seen the dietishan well she suggested that I go with the dr from alma thay are having a seminare thurs, she said thay are the best at getting the insurence company to coverit ,am not sure what to do I dont no that much about the alma hospital ..do thay do a lot of wls there ??

HI SHERRY....I WAS GOING TO GO TO ALMA FOR MY WLS BUT THEN I HAD SOME SCAR TISSUE PROBLEMS AND DR CUDJOE DIDN'T WANT TO MESS WITH IT SO HE SENT ME TO GRAND RAPIDS. IF I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE SCAR TISSUE PROBLEMS I WOULD HAVE GONE THERE TO ALMA. I HEARD THEY ARE REALLY GOOD THERE TOO. WISHING YOU THE BEST...HUGS JUDY

well you asked right?? LOL Alma hospital does NOT have Bariatric wing. The rooms are 2 people to a room and NOBODY can spend the night in your room unless they sleep in a chair!!! ( They still frown on that also ) I had mine done there in 04 would I go there again?? I doubt it very much.. not that my surgeon is still there cuz he left but the ONE surgeon that does it now is ok.. the other well lets just say... NO WAY!!!! hope this helps ya, Pam

I had my surgery in Alma on 9/5 and had no problems with the hospital. A lot of hospitals don't have a bariatric wing, nor do you have private rooms. Your insurance normally will not pay for a private room. As far as people staying with you, the hospital I work at (they don't do bariatric surgery) doesn't allow for overnight guest either unless patient is terminal or a minor. I will say the staff was excellent and one of my nurses had had bariatric surgery about a year ago. She knew what I was going through and was very helpful. My bill for surgery was over $31,000 and my insurance paid for all but $800. Each insurance is different. I was approved within 3 days of sending my info. Dr. Cudjoe was great and my incisions are super small. In 2 months I have lost 45 pounds. I would recommend Gratiot Hospital and Dr. Cudjoe! If you have any questions you can email them to me.
