Hey everyone! I have been very sick since yesterday evening with what I believe to be the flu. This morning I could not even keep water down. I called my surgeons office and explained that I have lost 6lbs since yesterday morning, and my bowel movements (sorry in advance for TMI) are pure water....there is NO consistancy to them at all, and I have been throwing up/dry heaving since yesterday evening. They suggested calling my pcp and getting in to see him. Now I am very concerned about dehydration as I know in us post ops that can happen very quickly. My question is what (if anything) can my PCP do for me? Thanks in advance! Jennifer

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling so bad! It's horrible, I know. Yes, we have to be VERY careful of dehydration, so I'd start with my pcp for sure...if he/she feels you need to, they'll send you to the hospital. Best of luck! Theresa

Unfortunately your PCP won't be able to do much if its the flu...which time should tell- how are you feeling NOW? If you're no better in 24 hours call your weight loss team - they may want you to go into the ER for IV hydration... that's what I had to do... UGH. Although that was back in July.....I've been fine until last week - now I have bronchitis and go back and forth between coughing up a lung and gasping for air. Ahhh.... the joy of the changing seasons!!!! I hope you feel better soon. Also, if you can tolerate Bananas or Applesauce - that will help slow the runs down for you. Hugs Syd

Well I went to my PCP last night and he confirmed it was indeed the stomach flu. They did do a test of some sort on a urine sample and determined me to be dehydrated. Thankfully they were able to give me IV fluids right in the office! I have to say I left there at 9pm and felt more human that I did all day yesterday. Today is definately better, I have even managed to eat some Chicken Noodle soup but still having dirreah problems. Maybe it is time to bust out a banana or some applesauce and see what happens! Thanks for the thought, don't know why I didn't think of it myself LOL Jennifer
