I had my pre-admission testing today at Hurley. I met a lot of great people, both staff and patients. It sure was a long day, but I passed everything and surgery is a go. I did find out taht Ihave high cholesterol, which I had no clue of. He said I am a heart-attack watiting to happen. The dcotor I saw we amazing and great. I am so beat. After all the testing, I went from the hospital over to the clinic to have my NUT class. All I can say is WOW... so much to take in. I have a lot of studying to do, to make sure I know all this stuff. Tomorrow I go SHOPPING!!!!! Yeah! Of course I can't get everything because things like yogurt I need to get just before my surgery. I did get some reading in while I was there though and learned more from that as well. I am beat, gonna head to bed. Just wanted to share with you all how my day went. It is all starting to seem real... OH.. I forgot I have to have an IVC filter put in 10 days before my surgery. That surprised me and is giving me a lot of anxiety over it. I was NOT expecting that at all. Well, off to bed. Good Night all. Shawn M.

Hi Shawn, Which surgery are you having? It will be over before you know it. It's a lot to absorb, but pretty soon, it will seem like second nature to you. Don't get overwhelmed.....you'll have a lot of down time after surgery to take it all in. Best of luck to you! Brenda

I am having the lap RNY.. at least that is what they are hoping for. I have had 4 surgeries on my belly so they are totally sure how much scar tissue is in there and if they will be able to do it la*****t, but they are hopeful that they will be able to. I can't believe that it is only 3-1/2 weeks away, and I have so many things on my calandar that I am doing, I am sure it is going to fly by. I just want to make sure that I have all my numbers of vitamins and protein grams and all of that straight so I dont' do the wrong things after surgery, and I want to make sure I have all the foods I will need on hand and ready to go. My husband cannot shop well and I don't want to have to send him to the store for anything. He can do milk, eggs and juice and that is about it. LOL.... Well, anyway, thanks for the support... Hey. I rarely reply to any posts but I noticed that you are going through Hurley. That is where I had my surgery, back in February and they are really the best. The nurses are wonderful and are truly angels. I hope this helps put your mind at ease. Tiffany

thanks Tiffany.... I know so far they have all been absolutely wonderful. I have not complaints as of yet. I have heard many good things about Hurley, that's why I knew they were the place for me. Thanks again for your kind words. Shawn M.
