Update on how I'm recovering

Hi all, Thought I'd sit down at the puter and jot a note as to how I'm doing after my recent abdominoplasty. Shocked still that he (Dr. Vincent DiNick) took off 15 pounds HOLY COW WOW!!!.....I'm doing fairly. I have eye issues either from the morphine or percocet/allergies. They are swollen and red and itchy and filled with mucous. It is progressively getting better but each time I go to sleep it takes a warm washcloth to open my eyes they are so matted shut. Anyone else ever have this happen and what you did to remedy it please let me know. I've maintained great sitting down and resting to the point where my 4 drainage tubes now have less than 1 teaspoon of fluid in each tube. I see Dr DiNick this Saturday for my first post op appointment. i'm feeling ok, tired, but overall am glad to be on the "other" side of the fence and home recovering. I have pretty much let Mom take over the household and my needs are being met quite efficiently. So much so that I just lay around and watch the world go by, the cat play and sometimes I indulge in watching my least favorite thing to do: TV!!!!! I'm hoping that the appointment Saturday shows to be that I am doing everything according to the letter and resting as I should be and keeping my protein and vitamins in as normal. Other than that, I take it one day at a time. Hope everyone out there is doing well and know that I sure do appreciate the emails, calls, cards and flowers and thanks for your kindness and support. Stacey, it sounds like your TT went great. Now about that mucus stuff,,sounds like you may have the "pink eye" and some prescription drops will fix that right up. One day at a time like you said,,and this summer,,string bikini time!!!

of course this is something only your doctors can tell you but are you sure you're supposed to do so much sitting around? They had me walking the day after my abdominal lipectomy and have constantly reminded me to stay active every day since. (it's almost 5 weeks now). My only restriction was on not lifting anything heavy and not doing too much bending. And i recovered very quickly. I'm glad to hear you're doing well and recovering nicely. Not sure what to tell you about your eyes, benedryl helps me but that's only if it is indeed from allergies.

It is so good to hear that you are doing well. Before my RNY, I said I would have the TT but once I had my RNY I have been on the fence about it. I know it's a long ways away but I was in tremendous pain and couldn't even imagine what pain the TT would bring. You are an inspiration to me and maybe one day I will be brave enough to have it done too. Keep up the good work and just rest. Take advantage of the time off and just rest. Your body needs it! Best Wishes from one Stacey to another! Stacey B

Jay, Dr DiNick told me to walk a little around the dining room table, make a sandwich and do small little walks in the apartment. I've done a little walking now and then - probably every 4-5 hours. Thats what he told me to do. Rest, stay seated and in a reclining position with my head up and feet up and just take it easy. I do some walking but he didnt specify to walk every 3 hours or anything...i take small walks around the apartment but can only handle so much every time. I believe I am following his instructions about things but I don't remember much from discharge. Memory is terrible right now being on Percocet and stuff. Otherwise, I'm managing one day at a time. Thanks all for the continued hugs and support warmies Stacey W still home recovering!!!
