Does anyone have any idea about how long once you go to this informational meeting, before you get to meet with Dr?

I just noticed that you are going to Henry Ford! I had Dr. Carlin, and he is the biggest sweetie alive! I hear Dr. Genaw is one of the very best surgeons in his field too, but maybe not as much of a touchy-feeling personality. He tells it like it is. Many love him for his straight-forwardness! Dr. Carlin is just as great of a surgeon but more of the touchy-feely type and I really felt he "cared" the whole way through. He celebrates your acheivements and is not afraid to give you a hug when you succeed! They are both wonderful Drs. and the staff and hospital wing are the best! Wanda is pretty straight-forward too, but I love that about her. She doesn't pull any punches and she always follows thru with what she's doing. I've emailed her and Annette (nutritionist) at different times and even though I am almost three years out, they still email me back within a day or two at the most! I think that's great! Now to your question...(wow, I am so long-winded today!!!) I probably can't give you a good answer for this. When I went to my informational meeting, I had actually started at Harper Hospital where Dr. Carlin was at the time, and he was just in the process of leaving Harper and going to Henry Ford to pair up with Dr. Genaw and his staff, and if I decided to go with him, I would be at the top of his list for surgery since I met with him already. It was up to me. At that meeting though, he explained everything to a small group of us and our spouses. I loved him from the start and my husband was very impressed with him and his presentation and the fact that he seemed to "love" what he does for a living! It definately came through that he was passionate about his work and cared about his patients. So.....I think start to fini**** was no more than three months til I had surgery! Since I was driving three hours, they set up my all my appts. on ONE DAY! I met with the exercise Dr., EKG dr., physc. dr., medical clearance Dr. and the last appt. with him in his office. I remember that day well....I was sick with broncitis at the time (at the tail end of it), but I wasn't going to miss this day of appts, no matter what!! At the end of the day, Dr. Carlin had received verbal approval from all depts. and said I was approved and we set a surgery date!!! I was on cloud nine on the way home! So, I hope you have as easy of a time as I did! I know they are very busy now, but they are also very efficient. Best of luck to you and if you would like to ask me anything, please feel free! Hugs, Theresa P.S. Sorry so long!!!
