Has anyone in their 50's undergone surgery?

I look at the pictures and see lots of younger women and read their blogs. But, I am most curious to hear from or find people in their upper 50's and hear about their experiences before I make my final decision. I would appreciate hearing from anyone my age. [email protected] :fairy:

Donna, I had mine done when I was 49 1/2 and Im very pleased. I am 1 year and 2 months post op right now. I'm down about 50 pounds, lower than I anticipated but that was due to a leaky band that I had replaced... I'd be happy to answer anything I can or just chat with you about it whatever... Hi Donna, I had mine at 44 and did very well! As far as over 50, there is a forum that you can go to. Go to the top of this page, click on "Forums" and drop down to "Show All Forums", then go to the category with the heading "Weight Loss Related Forums", and there you will find the "over 50" forum. Hi Donna, I had my surgery on last Thanksgiving Day at the age of 53. Only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner. Not due to any problems mind you. Just that life is so much better as a post-op I regret all the lost years while being fat and miserable. Good luck on your journey. Please do your research thoroughly before you decide on which procedure to have.

I had my surgery at age 52 and I am two years post op. I did make the decision on having the surgery done laproscopic because of my age and my recovery was very fast.. There is a forum here for over people over 50. Take care, Janice

I posted my inquiry late last night and have already had 5 supportive responses early this morning. It is obvious I have come to the right place to gain understanding, knowledge, support and hopefully to repay by providing the same. Donna come join us on the over 50 forum. there are tons of ladies there that are over 50 and doing very well. I myself just had surgery this past August and i am 65 and doing wonderful. No problems , i have lost 44 pounds in 2 1/2 months and feel so good you wouldnt believe what all i am doing, Jan

My mom had it done in July 2005 at the age of 61. She's lost about 130lbs and says it was the best decision she's ever made!

hi donna!!!! i just had my wls done on the 17th and i am going on 54. i feel great and am so kicking myself for waiting so long to have it done!!! stop in on the over 50 forum and meet the women there that have had the surgery. many wonderful women with help and support there!!!! good luck!!! hugs judy
