New plan of action

Ok, so after tons of research over the past week or two, I decided that when it comes to surgery, I'll want to go with a Duodenal Switch rather than a RNY. This puts a wrench in my previous plan, since Beaumont doesn't do DS, and also because my insurance specifically excludes DS. However, my health/well being should come first, and I'm just more comfortable with the potential side-effects of the DS over the RNY, even though the procedure itself is more complicated. This means that my option is self-pay. Has anybody here done that with DS? What were your experiences? Also, I've heard very good things about Dr. Mustafa Hares in Bloomfield Hills. Anybody have stories to share?
